Doing the math. 5 year survival rate of 1%, and 50,000 diagnosed per year. That means 500 people hit the 5 year mark.

Really he only needs to be 1 of the 500.

Sending positive vibes your way Alex

That sucks. I have always been a fan of his. One of the biggest pop culture figures to come from Canada and seems like a genuinely nice guy.

I watch Jeopardy every day that it's on, and have been doing so for as long as I can remember. Just horrible.

Alex seems very strong, so I hope he fights this terrible disease as hard as he possibly can.

It was sad and somewhat poignant to watch the episode today after hearing this news.

This has been a bit of a tough week for celebrities that are good people. Good luck Alex.

That clip in the CBC article where he's reading the news in 1965 and refers to himself as Alec Trebek kind of blew my mind. I always thought it was Alec Trebek until like 4-5 years ago. I swore it was pronounced that way at one point. I guess it was!

This is sad, just bad. Have been watching Jeopardy with Alex Trebek since University 20 years ago. It has become part of our nighttime routine on weekdays with the kids.
I hope he beats it.

I remember that everytime I was sick, and when I destroyed my knee and had to stay home for a week after surgery, everyday I would watch Jeopardy and play along. Even when I got older, and had I was home for whatever reason, that show would go on.

I remember the SNL spoofs of the show, and even the SCTV spoofs of it, and I always laughed because I would think that underneath his cool calm gentleman like exterior he was cussing and swearing and face palming on the inside.

Jeopardy and Alex Trebek are a game show institution. Sure we had other interesting games like Who Wants to be a Millionare and wheel of fortune, and even the price is right. But nothing stood out like Jeopardy as a show that you could multiple times say to yourself, I didn't know that, or that's interesting.

Here's hoping that he pulls through this thing.

I watched that episode and totally missed the emotion in Alex's voice.
I was afraid scrolling down with fear about what a bump in the thread meant.
That was touching, thanks for posting.

I watched that last night and I immediately started to well up with emotion. You could hear Alex's reaction and tone change immediately. He was clearly touched by the sentiment.

Keep fighting Alex. We love you.

as much as I love Trebeck, I miss mustachioed Trebek.

glad people are getting a chance to show appreciation for him before he's gone.

he's my Gord Downie of TV personalities.
