Default Dolores O'Riordan, Cranberries Singer, Dead at 46

Very sad. 46 is way too young.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/n...-at-46-w515435

Quote:
Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of the Irish alternative band the Cranberries, died Monday in London. She was 46.

The band's publicist confirmed O'Riordan's death in a brief statement, "Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries was in London for a short recording session."

The statement continued, "No further details are available at this time. Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time."

No cause of death was revealed. The Irish Times notes that the Cranberries were forced to cancel tour dates in 2017 due to O'Riordan's ill health.

Cripes, that is way too young. She was a fantastic singer, very distinct voice.

My kids were talking about cranberries yesterday morning (the berry, not the band), and it triggered a nostalgia trip where I put on the No Need to Argue album. What a damn good album.

I think that was the Dome, some idiot jumped on stage and tried dancing with her after she just explained how the song she was singing was very important to her?

I have a memory of seeing them at Max Bell as well I think.

You may be correct with the venue.

Kinda sounds like she's had some depression issues in the past. I'm guessing suicide, but I really hope not. She has 3 kids..........brutal.

It is with great sadness that we learned about the passing of Dolores O'Riordan. She was special. She had wit, humor, and talent to spare. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, bandmates and fans. - Belly

Very sad. One of my favourite voices ever. There's just no replacing her. That's it for the Cranberries. CKUA seems to playing a bunch of their songs right now, in case anyone wants to reminisce.

She spent a lot of time in rural Ontario, with a cottage just north of Peterborough. She seemed to love it a lot up there.

Which reminds me - that's two music superstars with a connection to the area north of Peterborough that have passed away recently. Bobcaygeon is a town north of Peterborough, and also one of the Tragically Hip's / Gord Downie's best hits.

Zombie has kinda been ruined for me because it’s been overplayed on radio and drunks butcher it at karaoke (even though that’s the point of karaoke). I do love Dreams and Ode To My Family.

She was a great singer and I loved her accent. RIP

Well this totally sucks. Beautiful, haunting voice. Linger is one of the most finely-crafted pop songs of all time. RIP Dolores, very sad.
