As for Manoah, I don’t know how guys sidewntly get these injuries at the start of the season. In the offseason you’d think they’d be working on their craft at 90% with the occasional session at 100%. But somehow this stuff only shows up now.

I wonder if Manoah’s inability to find the right arm slot while throwing with increased velocity, in his last start, ended up putting extra stress on his shoulder due to poor mechanics.

You’d hope that the work he did in the off season would have improved his fundamentals but it feels like he’s a ways off.

I agree. In pitching, when things go that badly as they did last season, combined with his ego, and size, it takes awhile to get it all right. I thought it would take until the playoffs realistically to get it right. I hope this isn’t a long term problem but that’s the risk you take with a bigger body and being able to push working out. I know some mentioned Halliday but he was work horse apparently. From what I understand teams are also limited how they can interact and train players in the offseason so that’s another reason why I think Manoah will take a few months to get that whole thing right.

Yeah so the Jays supposedly offered Chapman a 5/100 or 6/120 last year sometime and Boras/Chapman turned it down.

Good call you greedy pricks. Looks good on him/them now.

Yeah, may not be anything serious but that's not great.

Josh Donaldson officially announced his retirement today. What a funny little career. There was a 3 year span where he was amongst the best in baseball. But then injuries and his ego got in the way. He was never my favourite player but you can't deny the impact he had on the 15/16 teams. I wonder if the Jays sign him to a 1 day contract to retire a Jay. Or maybe his tenure wasn't long enough for something like that.

Yeah, not sure what to think about Donaldson. He was cocky but for the most part stayed to himself it seemed (from the outside). You seen flares of an ####### when he argued balls and strikes, but never a full blown ####### until he left the organization. At that point he seemed full of himself. I'd rather not sign him to a one day contract. He wasn't here long enough to warrant it. Would come across as an organization desperate to be liked.

That’s a tough one. Ending his career in the minors. Surely a terrible team could’ve used him.

Be still my beating heart. Having this man on the Jays for any duration is a dream come true. Votto is a national treasure. How cool would it be if he just rakes and earns a contract? Vladdy, Votto, and Vogey platooning 1B and DH? V for victory baby.

I’m 99.9% sure he isn’t going to play at all in the minors . This is a tryout contract .

Excited for the Votto chance even if a longshot.

Would be cool for him to have some success with the Jays, but it'll be tough. This late a start to Spring training combined with his age makes this an uphill battle

Thanks for the clarity. Thought it was a minors deal with options for call up. It’s nice that he gets to play for the jays and it’s a flyer and all, but for two seasons he didn’t adjust at all. With the last roster spot why not.
