DALLAS HAS A NEW SHERIFF
Earlier today the Carlina Hurricanes traded their captain
Roman Josi to the defending Stanley Cup champions Dallas Stars. Josi was only supposed to be a short stay with the Canes when he was acquired from the Penguins in November of 2019. But the rearguards stay became to build ties to the community as he took a leadership role with the Canes and then signed a record 30-million-dollar deal to sign long term with the rebuilding franchise
Josi’s impact on the franchise started to show as has signalled handily carried the Hurricanes to 7th position in the Eastern Conference 27 games into the year. His 26 points lead all Canes in scoring and the 4th highest scoring Defensemen and 2nd in the league with assist.
But although Roman Josi’s stay with the Hurricanes was just what the Franchise needed when that trade was made with the Penguins, his window had never aligned with the rebuilding team. From the Dallas Stars, the Hurricanes acquire 23-year-old defenseman
Noah Hanifin, and young forwards
Sam Steel and
Jordan Kryou.
Hanifin will have a tough time filling former captain's skates but at age 23 his window fits in line with the young Hurricanes core. While the additions of Steel and Kryou will join the ranks of the young prospect depth of the Hurricanes and take some pressure of the young core.
While a tough move to make, the team is absolutely in the hands of Mathew Barzal as this is now his team.
Huge thanks to TurdFerguson for the smooth talks
