Looks like the Victoria game will have the bare-minimum of veterans to meet the quota: - Andersson
- Czarnik
- Davidson
- Froese
- Jankowski
- Quine
- Rieder
- Stone

When it says tonight's game has regional restrictions. Can someone clarify if that means people outside Calgary/area can't watch the game, or people inside the area can't watch the game? Thanks, really want to watch this so will go to the dome if I can't via the stream.

That is supposed to be how it works, but with the Flames expertise in streaming who knows which regions actually get to watch

Do the Flames usually archive these pre-season streams so you can watch the next day?

"8" preseason games is well to many. Even 6 seems like too many.

Not even close.
Petterssen, Horvat, and Sutter are the Canucks top three centres, and Ferland, Miller, Pearson, and Leivo are all players that will get regular mins in the top six. They are all playing in Victoria. Also missing from the Calgary roster are defensemen Edler, Myers, Tanev, Benn, and super-rookie Quinn Hughes. Neither one of the Canucks NHL goalies will be playing in Calgary.

Yes, I know.
I mean are the Canucks sharing a stream of the Calgary game that would be viewable by BC residents?
We've seen streams of the same game through both team's sites before for Oiler/Flames games. Never impacted regions, but I'm sure the Canucks can broadcast the stream to their region somehow.

Viewership.
BC has 5M people and one team. Alberta has 4M people and 2 teams.

Ah, I see. I just checked nhl.canucks.com and there is no indiction that the Calgary game will be streamed on their site. The radio broadcast appears to be the only free one available to BC residents.

Wtf is the point of this regional restriction exactly??
Revenue wise, i understand LOCALLY blacking out of a game to drive attendance, but what is the purpose of blocking a flames fan sitting in Toronto (like myself) from watching the game???

Wow, I couldn't believe Carter Bancks is still with an NHL team. Then I checked and he's basically spent the last 9 seasons in the AHL (first in Abbotsford, now in Utica).
Also looking forward to the "Welcome back Oscar Fantenberg" pre-game tribute.

I think the rationale is that the restriction will prompt viewers to watch the local broadcast. Whenever there are Flames games that I am unable to view, my next recourse is usually to watch another NHL game.
