Saw him live once in Calgary at the Jack Singer. He didn't play any of his hits, but still oozed with talent, just an unreal guitar player.
"Let's Go Crazy" was my favourite song and video in 1984 and 1985. Also loved Batdance, it seemed so ahead of its time, at the time.
He has a very deep catalouge of awesome songs, though the only things I listened to were 1994 and fefore. His "newer" stuff never caught my attention.
I thought he was meticulously healthy. Very surprising. RIP.

Man, this sucks.
Wasn't long ago we were talking about how awesome he was on SNL.
Happy I saw him in Vancouver a long long time ago.

I've been watching CNN this morning and about an hour ago they reported that there is an ongoing death investigation at Prince's facility but they haven't yet confirmed who it was.
It sucks if it is in fact Prince who died.
Edit: CNN confirmed the death of Prince.

The funny part in all of this is a whole bunch of young people who've never heard of him will be rushing to youtube or apple music to hear his songs and will be totally floored by the lack of pretty much anything online.
lol

Just stunned right now. I can't believe it. One of my all time favourites.
I saw him three times when he toured Canada a few years back and they were three of the most incredible shows I have ever seen. All completely unique. One of them he played like 8 encores. People just kept cheering and he kept coming back out.
Damn, I really can't believe this.

Damn. I'm not a huge fan of some of his work (but a huge fan of a good chunk of it) but he really was an Artist. So damn talented. RIP.

The opening to the long version of Let's Go Crazy:
Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life
Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The after world
A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby
'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the after world
In this life
You're on your own

I still remember hearing years ago that he had written produced and played all of the instruments on an album in his teens. Not sure of the truth to that, but there's no denying the talent.

Absolutely devastating news. A fantastic talent. This year is horrible for the music greats.
