Goal two was totally Smith's fault, that is a puck that should be swallowed up 100% of the time by any decent goalie, not leaving an easy fat rebound.

Brodie? Really? He was very good tonight

Wasn’t on for a goal against. Was on the PK for the Janko goal. Made an awesome play to get the puck out of harms way in the crease, Hrudey replayed it

Agree with you the team usually wins that. Smith lost it for them based on goals 1 and 2, not 3

Smith should have had the first one but the other goals are on poor team defence
Flames had more high danger chances but the Ducks weren’t far behind in theirs.
Need to clean up the defensive game, by a lot

It's okay. Sooner or later the Ducks stars will shrivel up and die of old age.

Can't wait to see that team nose dive into the abyss.

Time to get a goalie GMBT. We got Smithed tonight. Honestly, That first muffin was something a peewee kid could stop. The second muffin was because Smith was soooo deep in his net for some reason. He's clearly fighting the puck, and has been all year. Enough is enough, time to move on from him!

Or better rebound placement.

I think the incoming shot was tipped a bit but he should direct that in the corner

At what point does Peters start to prioritize winning games over soothing Smith’s ego?

Well, you certainly can't fault the effort at all. Flames were the better team all night, and they out-skated, out-shot and out-chanced the Ducks by a wide margin. I feel if Rittich had started this game, we'd be walking out here with at least a point tonight.

I never like to blame one guy for a loss, but this one's on Smith. He played ok in the 2nd half of the game, and you can't blame the Getzlaf goal on him. But man, he's been shaky all year and it's costing us points. You're not gonna storm back in the 3rd period and win every time. Eventually you're gonna lose a couple games if you keep spotting the other team the early lead.

Also, WTF is with Ryan Miller always standing on his head against us? Pretty sure I remember a game either last year or the year before where did the same thing to us. So frustrating.

And Getzlaf can f*** right off. He's a great player, but I'm just so damn sick of him.

*Edit* Also, Backlund needs to hit that wide open net. What the hell, Backs? He'd better be working on his shot in practice over the next few days.

No idea why Backlund gets a pass and so much ice time. 20 minutes tonight.

He made a terrible pass across the ice to the bench to Hamonic who was trying to get off. It forced Hamonic back in his own zone. Flames were then scrambling and tired, and the next outlet pass was icing. Backlund lost the subsequent draw. And then lost his man who scored the second goal.

Missed a wide open net in the second. Wide open.

Took a terrible lazy tripping call in the offensive zone. Ducks score on the PP with the GWG.

Coasts back late in the third, so close to Fowler he can smell his breath but didn’t hit him or try to check him and Fowler gets a pass through to a Duck for a breakaway.

Somehow Backlund gets rewarded by stepping on the ice with JG hurt.

He hears foot steps and before worried about getting hit gives the puck away in the Ducks zone to no one and Flames never really had possession again after that.

The worst forward statistically on the ice at a -2.

He totallymailed it in...he’s been knocked around too often by the Ducks so they seems to clearly be in his head.

Not sure that Mason would be much better than Smith
I’d try anything at this point. I’d be up for Lehtonen.

And the more I watch that third goal the more concerned I get about Smith.

Why is he opening up so much there?

He keeps his arm against his body and that’s a save. Instead he flails our with his blocker to cover way outside of that short side post and Getzlaf puts it between his arm and his body. Just no awareness of the net and the risk there.

Still an overall defensive breakdown and not a soft goal but it was saveable and his attempt to make that save is just alarming in how uncomfortable he looked.

No way is the Getzlaf goal on Smith
Our defence looked Oileresque on that one
4 guys doing the Russell swim on the ice

It might be time to start looking at some low cost options for another goalie. Smith yet to give any indications that he is going to pull out of this.

Treliving has to have a date in mind when he will pull the trigger on something, even very minor, without some sign of improvement from Smith.

First game I can think of that the goalie actually cost the team the W this year.

And I want to say this. Given how similar the body languages has been from 3 legit NHL starters under Sigalet at the end of their respective tenures tells me he is a part of the problem. Get a new goalie? Better get a new goalie coach too.

*** I hate the Ducks so much. As lowly and s***** as they are so far, they still pull out a win on us at the Honda Centre. No Perry, Kesler was invisible, Miller stands on his head. Inexcusable first goal on Smith and some opportunistic goals and we lose. Like I said already, if this is San Jose or Arizona not such a big deal. But it's the Ducks... so I want to smash my TV.
