People on this board have bitched for ages that our defensive depth is poor and now that we finally have some, you want to trade it away. Lmfao.

Hasn't Anderson taken hamonics spot he was on the second pairing last night

Nope. Andersson hasn’t taken anybody’s spot yet. He moved up because Hanifin’s speed compliments Andersson’s weakness (skating) and splitting the two rookies up makes the 3 pairings more stable.
Hamonic and Stone are both still ahead of Andersson when healthy IMO

I don’t understand this line of thinking. Brodie is in his prime and looks like he’s rebounding nicely on the right side. Flames don’t need to deal either of those guys.
Why are some fans in a hurry to trade away good depth? Makes no sense if you want to contend

I understand he's a rookie, so I'm not making any long-term judgment.
But I haven't been at all impressed with Andersson in his games so far. His best plays are often in response to his own screw ups (like yesterday's getting back in time when he lost the puck). And for someone with poorer skating I thought he would be more positionally sound.
Again, not making any long-term judgement but I'm perfectly happy with having Brodie, Hamonic and Stone while Andersson goes through his growing pains. I wouldn't want to have to rely on him today.

I think the Flames should keep their current D Corp all season and try and move Stone’s contract in the summer. I believe if the Flames can somehow dump both Stone and Froliks contracts they should be able to spend a decent chunk on a goalie and give Tkachuk and (hopefully) Bennett the raises they will need.

I agree with this. IMO you don’t deal any of the top-5 guys this season. You do that and you’re one injury away from having two rookies and Prout in your lineup. Keep Stone this year and deal him in the off-season or early next season when Valimaki is ready for a bigger role.

Has Brodie recovered because he is playing the right side or has he recovered because he is paired with Gio?

Probably a little of column A and a little of column B. Gio makes anybody look better and Brodie is obviously more comfortable on the right.

I should have clarified that Stone can/should be moved at the deadline or this summer to free up some cap space. Moving him now, unless someone offers a crazy deal doesn't make sense.

Basically, Gulutzan's handling of Brodie was completely wrong.

Or you could argue that it was just right (by accident) since it showcased Hamilton and allowed us to get Hanifin and Lindholm!

Bob McKenzie
@TSNBobMcKenzie
Marko Dano claimed by COL on waivers.
Colorado was 15th on waiver priority.

hope he can finally stick. His father was kind of a cult hero in my hometown when he played in the 2nd Austrian league, so I'm rooting for him.

Has he totally recovered only five games in? As we saw Saturday night he still appears prone to major gaffes.

I wonder if Calgary thought of adding to their collection of 2013 1st rounders lol.
Did the Av's have priority over the Flames?

Calgary didn't need him for the same reason that he was waived. Nothing against him but he isn't cracking this roster.

Calgary had priority over Colorado. So the Flames passed on Dano.

The only name I see on waivers today is Stephen Gionta from the Islanders.

Yeah no way in hell im trading one of the veteran dmen right now. Anderson can hardly skate, and in my opinions would get torn apart in the playoffs today. He really needs to improve his skating. It is getting him in trouble atleast a couple times a night.
