Didn't fire Lowe, MacTavish and Nicholson. Didn't blow up their pro and amateur scouting. I'm not worried.

That's a huge shame. I'm worried now because I hear Bob Nicolson is an expert in

I wonder if Chia ever comes out with a book explaining the trades and signings he made as GM of the Oilers.
Would be fascinating to hear his side of some of the baffling moves like what was the thought process and what pressures there were from ownership and others in the organization.
There have been some bad GMs in the NHL, but Chiarelli's tenure with the Oilers has to rank with some of the worst.

Can't help but think that the contrast between the Flames and the Oilers going into the All Star Break added fuel to the impetus to do something in Edmonton.

It's a sad day as a Flames fan, but at least he was able to do the good work of locking down a 30 year old goalie with 30 games under his belt for a 13.5 million before he was shown the door.
It's like someone leaving a ####ty shrimp ring at your house at the end of a Christmas party. Except the shrimp ring is stupid heavy and collapses your dining room table.

If they did that, his first move would be to trade himself.

A good reporter will ask who made the Koskinen and Manning deals. If Chiarelli why was a guy who you were given autonomy. If the OBC why did you put them in charge. Hopefully their media is as no good as the team.

The search for a new GM in Edmonton begins immediately. Expect to hear names like Gillis, Hunter, McCrimmon, Futa and Hextall on the list.

Timing is obviously sketchy, but McCrimmon has to be high on the list.

If I’m Bob Nicholson, my first phone call would be to Las Vegas to ask for permission to talk to Kelly McCrimmon. He would be my choice to take over this Edmonton mess knowing that Steve Yzerman wouldn’t be interested.
---
Why would LV even think about allowing the Oil to talk with McCrimmon? They're competing with them as a divisional rival. *(Yes - as a "good" corporate employer I understand...at the end of the year.)

Chia will probably (I say probably because you can never discount the stupidity of some owners) never work again in the NHL as a GM. One has to wonder if he gets another NHL job in any capacity so a book may not be far fetched. I'm not exactly sure why any quality GM candidates would even consider this job knowing the damage that will be done to their reputation long term. They will probably have to hire a retread who's just happy to get another job or some green assistant GM that lacks the patience to wait for a good opportunity.

Lowe and the OBC have really been masterful in their brainwashing of Oiler fans. Nearly universal happiness over Chia being gone, not a single one of them questioning who will replace him. Using subtraction as a means for improving, when you don't subtract the actual problem, that's a hell of a math equation. Something like...
E-0=NG

You have to wonder who will take on the roles of GM and Head Coach after witnessing what has happened to Chia and the complete futility of the Hitchcock tenure.

Glen Gulutzan for Head Coach. He was great with the Flames, would be an excellent addition to the Oilers. I truly miss him in Calgary, he changed our team for the better.
