This opening match should be over quickly, Felix's opponent is clearly over matched.

Edit: Felix up two breaks and serving at 3-love in the opening set.

The only negative about Felix's play today is that the serving gremlins have not been eliminated.

Edit: Felix wins 6-1 6-3 in just a little under 70 minutes.

All right, Shapo wins the first set over Greek Yogurt in a tie-breaker (8-6 was the tie-breaker score).

Tuned in just in time to see Shapo take the first set.

The premise of the ATP Cup is... interesting?

Uh oh, a linesperson has taken a tumble. Not sure if she tripped over a court mic or just stubbed her foot, but it was quite a hard fall.

Big hold by Denis right there to stay on serve as Tsitsipas has to hold serve to stay in the match at 5-6

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATP_Cup

Quote:
The ATP Cup is an international outdoor hard court men's tennis tournament between competing nations, which will premiere in January 2020. The tournament will be played across three Australian cities over ten days in the lead up to the Australian Open and will feature teams from 24 countries.

The event sees the return of an ATP team competition into the calendar for the first time since the ATP World Team Cup, which was held in Düsseldorf from 1978 to 2012. The inaugural tournament is scheduled to take place between 3 and 12 January 2020, being played in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Sydney will host the finals of the competition for the first three events between 2020 and 2022.

The format saw 24 teams divided into six groups of four teams each. The teams will face in ties composed of two singles match and one doubles match. The match between the No. 2 of each team will open the tie, then the No.1 of each team, and the doubles match closing the tie. The doubles match will be played regardless whether the tie is decided or not.

Leylah Annie Fernandez received a qualification wildcard for the ASB Classic. Good luck to Leylah as she kicks off her 2020 campaign in New Zealand.

Tough match for LAF, but she was playing a player ranked 130 places higher (i.e. inside the top 100) and acquitted herself very well.

Kyrgios has a bad back, thus it will be John Millman taking on Felix in the opening match.

Felix shaky to start this match especially on the forehand - Way too many unforced errors.
