Exactly, this is such an interesting rabbit hole that opens up so many questions about Compound V, Vought and the nature of Supes and Humans.

Yet, radio silence from Emergency Awesome, Heavy Spoilers, Screen Crush, New Rockstar, etc.

Yes adult Eleven can pop people as part of her more general telekinetic power set. But she is slow, sticks out, and has no reason or knowledge to be targeting Vought’s enemies. In fact she’s a victim of a Vought program so you’d think if she even knew who to target, it would be guys like Pollos Hermanos.

If anyone was wondering what Stormfront was saying in German at the end:

Quote:
Her words translate to English as, "It was so beautiful. How the three of us sat there, in the shade of an apple tree. Do you remember the day, Frederick? Chloe had her arms stretched out of the car window. We found the perfect spot by the river, in the shade of an apple tree. It was the first time Chloe ate fresh apples."#

Later, when Homelander (Antony Starr) and Ryan are talking, Stormfront adds, "War so glücklich. Es war herrlich. Ich wollte dass er nie zu Ende geht." In English, that means, "... was so happy. It was wonderful. I never wanted it to end."

I think the enduring fascination with this show is because its just so cynical.

Wee have this pre-conceived notion of Superheroes and 'Truth, Justice and the American Way!'

This show peels that back and shows the Real Truth, Actual Justice and, well, thats the American Way.

Its just so deliciously cynical and yet....realistic.

Am I the only one who thinks Butcher is the absolute worst part of the show and really drags it down? His character is absolutely exhausting and not in a love to hate sort of way.

I dont know...I dont think I'd agree with that.

The thing is...Butcher is the character that drives everything. He is the foil, not the main which is why I found this season interesting because being that agent of complete destruction is exhausting but without it there is no primary obstacle to your main villain.

Realistically our principle character is Huey, but he cant get anywhere without Butcher and the friends and resources that Butcher can bring.

I like the fact that there arent any 'thin' characters, everyone's motivation clicks with each other's in order to move the story along.

I think my biggest complaint is that the baby survived from Season 1. There was no fallout from Butcher suicide bombing an innocent baby (and nanny?), it just miraculous survives in a one-off comment so far and otherwise seemingly forgotten. I thought it would be brought up again by now.

I assume the baby will have to come back as some form of plot point but if not, that's a pretty crappy plot armour to make an anti-hero less reprehensible and ignore what should have been some huge conflicts with the rest of The Boys.

Don't think he's the worst part of the show but I agree his arc is grating. After thinking about it S2 was borderline bad relative to season 1.

I think Bucher & Hughie where the definite leads of season 1, and had clear story arcs, both of them were lacking clear story arcs in season 2. Hughie had a slight arc of learning to man up a bit. Buchers arc was supposed to be accepting his step son, but it just wasn't there.

The main story movement was humanizing Kimiko but they did little to pull her out of the background of most scenes, so it didn't lead the show. Maeve is probably in the same category.

Starlight v Stormfront carried through most of the season, but Starlight didn't grow at all, so it was a story without an arc.

Lamp Lighter was a wasted character, it was something of a Canto Bight like detour within the overall plot.

I really like what they did with Mothers Milk, in terms of plot that was the highlight of the season.

Homelander / The Deep / A Train had good stories, and I think its part of what the boys is trying to do, keeping you invested in the story of the bad guys. But they are the bad guys, so they cannot carry the main protagonist story arc.

IMO season 3 needs to let Star Light take the lead role, and have her grow more powerful, so that she does not constantly feel impossibly threatened by 80% of the Supes, this would represent actual main protagonist character growth that was lacking in season 2. I think Homelanders son learning gaining control of his powers is also an option, but that seems more like a season 5 story than a season 3 story.

Butcher doesn't come across as totally good to me. His story is good on a superficial level. Evil man rapes his wife. He just wants her back.

But the more they get into it, the more it seems like Butcher is motivated by his own ego and doesn't really seem to actually care about what his ex wife wants or any of the people around him. He seems to really to control his ex wife more than make her happy.

S3 should be straight up Starlight vs. Homelander and everyone and everything involved in that. Butcher needs to be completely knocked off his self serving perch and for good otherwise I'd rather see him killed off.

I could see them turning Homelander into the good guy eventually to fight off a disfigured and massively revengeful Stormfront, either way there's a whole boatload of good potential story lines so move things forward season 2 was too much about going in circles.

That's pretty close to the way I Envision it;

S3, Starlight Steps up and takes on Homelanders head to head, actually Survives despite her expectations. Bucher on the run with Homelanders Kid, Hughie with Starlight, Homelander goes after him because he knows where the kid is.

S4, Stormfront returns with the Nazi version of the seven formed and ready to fight. Homelander joins with the good guys to defeat them. Instant harsh heel turn as soon as they are taken down, and he's still the bad guy in the end.

S5, Homelanders kid gets in the fight takes him down for once and for all. Ominous ending where the kid might be just as bad as homelander but we don't know.

I'm probably wrong though, because I didn't read the comics, and I can't imagine where they are going with the congresswoman. Wont be upset if they take it in a wildly different direction, I've been pretty critical of the whinny fan boys who come up with a preconceived notion of what they want to happen in the Star Wars movies, then get upset when they don't get when they want, only to complain so loudly that the stupid direct listens to the and almost takes down the entire franchise with the garbage they pressure him into making.

I've been told 2 or 3 things about the comics that didn't match up with the show at all. But the world building of this show is certainly setup for frequent heel turns.

Spoiler!
