Suzuki and Kotkaniemi may be young but their play pushed Danault out of the #1 C spot. So much, there were reports he wasn't happy about it and Beregevin responded (in public) by saying "if you're not happy about it go out on the ice and show it". <paraphrasing>

Suzuki led the Montreal Canadiens in scoring with 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points in 10 games. Kotkaniemi was tied for most goals with 4 as well while Danault had a goal and 2 assists.

As long the two continue to progress the Habs will be fine down the middle.

I guess I am with the minority here, I think the Habs have done well and have great young players coming up. With Tampa Bay losing all their players and Boston in decline Toronto and Montreal will really be moving up. Ottawa should also improve dramatically.

I love Gallagher as a player - he is way up on my list of guys I would love to have on my team.

But $6.5M for him is... well let's call it full value. At his best, he is worth $6.5M. However, this deal is for 6 years, and there was already some question this year as to whether he is still at his best.

I doubt that he is worth $6.5M for any more than 2 years, then this is going to be a bad contract, IMO.
