No, you have good goaltending and defense. You're only really missing scoring, and that's easily the easiest position to find help at.

Well, we can probably manage with this for now.
Just kidding! We're still very much open for business.
David Perron (77) - Eric Staal (81) - Patric Hornqvist (72)
Jakob Silfverberg (70) - Mikko Koivu (72) - Micheal Ferland (70)
Sven Andrighetto (67) - Bryan Little (72) - Ryan Reaves (65)
Zac Rinaldo (64) - Jordan Szwarz (63) - Zack Mitchell (63)
Brandon Pirri (62) - Phil di Giuseppe (62)
Alex Goligoski (73) - Roman Polak (71)
Scott Mayfield (68) - Nick Jensen (67)
Brandon Davidson (67) - Victor Antipin (65)
Andy Welinski (61) - Paul Postma (60)
Jimmy Howard (84)
Corey Crawford (81)
Goaltending is pretty good. Forwards are mediocre, just lack depth and one more top scorer. Could use another couple 74/75-type guys. Defense is atrocious. Good god. In desperate need of upgrade there.

This is the roster as it looks right now but may have to make changes...not sure all the RFAs are going to fit under the cap.
Pretty happy with my d-core though, as per savardandjokinen's math I have 4 top pairing talent dmen and 2 more 2nd pairing talents. Not a lot of top line talent though up front. 1 1st line talent and then a bunch of 2nd/3rd line talent making up the top 9.

What have I done ...
Athanasiou 69 - Bjugstad 70 - Niederreiter 69
Nelson 68 - Rask 68 - Frk 65
Vesey - 66 - Lowry 69 - Ennis 66
Barbashev 64 - McCann 67 - Leivo 62
Stajan 65
Slavin 74 - Montour 71
De Haan 70 - Ekblad 74
Forsling 68 - Murray 67
Allen 82
Ullmark 77
Jack Hughes will look good in my lineup 3 years from now though with Fabbro, Merkley, Hague, etc.

On paper that doesn’t look great but young players are the most valuable in the game and you have that. According to the CPHL FYI stats you have the 2nd youngest team. You’ve done a great job since joining and the future is bright in Florida

I was the runner-up last season and my youngest player was probably Alec Martinez.

It’s been a long term trend that teams with older players with good LD and EX have been much more successful than teams loaded with young stars.

I don’t disagree, I was basically saying young players have more trade value

100%. Youth is still the most valuable asset. Can turn your team around quick if your have an abundance of youth to trade.

My logic was my team was last place when I took over, was pretty old, and was tight to the cap. So not really a good combination.
I think I may have went a little too far in the drive to get young and move out big contracts - but in the end there is a vision here at least.
Now my team is younger and has lots of potential, I feel like I have lots of young assets, and since I've traded away $18M of cap for this season (and have few expiring RFAs) I will have a ton of cap space to work with in the pre-RFA window cap crunch where trade values seem to come down.

Update
Kessel (78) - Kopitar (81) - Brown (74)
Palat (71) - Johnson (74) - Frolik (69)
Winnik (67) - Shore (68) - Salomaki (64)
Wilson (65) - Kesler (67) - Tangradi (63)
Josi (79) - Spurgeon (78)
Orpik (71) - Lovejoy (70)
Barberio (69) - Chiarot (67)
Talbot (85)
Niemi (78)
I probably should have let Talbot go to UFA bidding to see if I could have gotten him for less

I think I've done rather well thus far in the offseason.
Perron (77) - Staal (81) - Hornqvist (72)
Ferland (70) - Little (72) - Silfverberg (70)
Gagner (67) - Koivu (72) - Byron (69)
Andrighetto (67) - Carr (64) - Reaves (65)
Goligoski (73) - Daley (71)
Mayfield (68) - Jensen (67)
Davidson (67) - Antipin (65)
Howard (84)
Crawford (81)
Still not super enthused about that defense, especially not with having a third pair entirely composed of guys without NHL contracts, but it's a start. Hopefully we can clear some cap space before the next batch.

Scoring Winger
|
Bailey (76) - Bergeron (80) - Simmonds (73)
Boedker (67) - Heinen (72) - Rieder (68)
Sheary (66) - Cizikas (67) - Pominville (68)
Hinostroza (67) - Copp (67) - Laughton (66)
Krug (73) - Hamhuis (73)
Holden (71) - Johnson (70)
Dillon (70) - Macdonald (69)
Anderson (84)
McElhinney (78)
Jarry (76)
Pretty rough looking on the wing, but the team actually doesn't look that much different than the bunch that couldn't stop scoring goals in piles last season (led by Bergeron and Simmonds), but couldn't keep the puck out of the net.
The offseason upgrades on defence and goaltending may be enough to be competitive.

Going to be quite the battle for the 4th line C and RW spot! Will we have to wait until training camp or will the GM make a move?
