If it's not too late, why not grab a hotel room for a night?

When my wife and I essentially got an extra 3 days/2nughts in Las Vegas due to weather and scheduling changes, we booked 2 nights at another resort.

Just an idea.

It could also be the perfect candidate to go to the A220 eventually, perhaps able to sustain year-round service if it performs well.

LOL. WestJet announces YYC-BOS starting May 14th.

http://westjet.mediaroom.com/2019-12...to-Calgary-hub

No mention of the type that will operate it, possibly a route that needs the MAX back so they have the metal to operate it?

Edit: Planned operation with the 737-700, as per a pilot at WS.

Just wanted to let you know that we made it to Maui without any issues. We left Calgary about 15 minutes early and arrived in Vancouver 10 minutes early. Just had time to go through US customs and security and grab a couple of sandwiches and water. When we got to the gate boarding had already started. We were lucky with the weather. If we had to de-ice in Calgary we would have been late. On that note, in Vancouver, at US security there was a person checking flight times and putting people through a separate line if they were going to be tight making it. So, I’m sure it would have all worked out.

Sitting in the patio right now enjoying the beautiful Hawaii evening!

Jesus Christ our airport is a joke for arrivals.

Picking up someone from the airport is such a joke.

So inside it says you’re at arrivals door 2. Get message and head over. Well there’s no pickup between 1 and 5. And the rate pickup zones at doors 1 and 5 are called pick up zones 1 and 2 on the signs outside.

I don’t think there’s more than about 6 arrival doors total and 4 of them are cabs.

This is why I have started telling people that I'm picking up to go to departures since it's was less of a gong show. They really need to get rid of the sidewalks on arrivals and make more space for pickup zones.

That's amazing! Charlottetown is one of Canada's best gems. The island is a beautiful place. The place is also booming right now which is great to see.

Calgary is getting some really good flights this year (Rome, Boston, Charlottetown). Wish those of us in Edmonton would get the same fortune for EIA

Probably not, WestJet is building up "Fortress YYC" in a big way. But you do have Icelandair to KEF, that is pretty cool.

I took it last year, heck of a flight! Icelandair is very pleasant. An added bonus is that Edmonton - Keflavik is only about six hours; it goes quite fast (basically another hour on top of a flight to Halifax).

I know Flair is way smaller and much different type of airline, but I'm hoping they can get through those first difficult years and grow a hub from EIA.

Other than that, nothing special about Edmonton flights

The new east deicing pad utilized a reduced carbon concrete in its construction. Neat.

https://www.airport-technology.com/n...lgary-airport/

Quote:
Known as East Deicing Apron, the new deicing pad was constructed using CarbonCure’s reduced-carbon concrete last year. The facility started service a few weeks ago.

During the mixing stage, CarbonCure incorporates waste CO2 from industrial gas suppliers into the concrete, which results in stronger and sustainable concrete.

The company claims that this technology reduces around 16kg of carbon emissions with each cubic metre of concrete that is produced.

My shoddy math says that's a reduction of about 4.5%. So...better than nothing, I guess.

1 tonne of concrete produces 150kg CO2e, 1m³ concrete =2.4 tonnes, so 360kg CO2e/m³.
16/360 = 4.5%

Which would have been a more helpful figure for the article to include.
