I don't know about that. BFBC1 was only on the consoles, 2 was on PC and consoles. From what I've read the PC version out sold the consoles partially because it was available over steam.

PC sales are not in the dump. They still haven't adjusted properly to taking into account digital downloads which are exceeding physical copy sales now.

The Xbox 360 sold about $3 Billion of software in stores last year. Steam - only one digital sales platform on the PC did over $1 Billion in sales in the same year.

Dice says Battlefield Bad Company 2 has double the amount of players on PC than on Xbox or PS3.

Really? All the stuff I've heard about PC sales say they are around 10% of the market and declining. You mention they aren't including digitial downloads, does that mean they aresn't counting the downloads on console too. You could be right about this game, I was just talking in general.

I don't understand why anyone would think a FPS on a console is better than on PC, but that is just me.

It's not about being better, it's about it working perfectly fine without having to spend hundreds of dollars in upgrades in order to play teh game that cost 50 bucks.

I agree that PC is the best for FPS as you just can't compete with a thumb stick vs a mouse. Also, graphics/sound is much better if you have a good computer.

However, console gaming is popular because the ease in playing online with your friends (ease, not necessarily quality ie dedicated servers). Also, at least it use to be this way, you don't have to upgrade as often playing on a console than you do with the PC.

For me, if it's multiplayer game, I generally stick with the Xbox. For single player and graphically amazing games, I'll pick it up for the PC

Will you guys buy this game for the MP aspect of it? I'm not really a MP kind of guy. Does it look like the SP campaign is worth it? The trailer looked pretty decent.

I only buy these games for MP. As someone eloquently put it, in an earlier thread, the single player is only the crust on the battlefield sandwich.

That being said it seems to me, and I could be wrong, that we've reached a point where the games are catching up to the hardware. I'm running a PC I haven't put a part into in over two years and I'm still meeting the recommended requirements and playing most games maxed out. Keep in mind that's on a 24" monitor.

When you play online on the pc, how do you communicate? That's why I use the xbox 360 now so I can play and talk with my friends.

Most people's PCs just need a $100 videocard upgrade to be able to play the latest games. PC games don't require expensive hardware anymore. Technology has plateaued. There hasn't been a PC game that demanded an upgrade since Crysis 3 years ago. Now a $50 videocard can run that.

PC games are also cheaper (or free if have an eyepatch and a peg leg). Most AAA titles go on sale for under $10 within months. I got BFBC2 for $9.99 3 months after release.

mic and headset through in-game system
steam chat
teamspeak
ventrillo
your own voice chat server with only your friends (so you don't have to hear ######ed kids)
skype
webcam
type on your keyboard! Every game lets you type.
Post on CP while you play
etc.
etc.
etc.

options are 1000x what you have on console. Basically you can talk any way you want.

If your RL friends don't have PCs and don't play games on PCs that is a problem then and a reason many stick to consoles.

reason #1 why PC gaming is still better than consoles? Steam sales

i've grabbed so many games on ridiculous deals through steam that you could never get through Xbox live or PSN. plus with how easy it is to play with friends through Steam, even large groups, it blows the consoles out of the water

Mafia 2 is $7.50 on Steam today. Was $59.99 in the fall lol. Even if you take into account used games on consoles, PC games are waaaay cheaper. And even if you want a specific game right away early in release, you don't have to pay full price. Lots of places to buy genuine PC games from other regions (no region locks) with legit keys that are priced for those countries and often half the cost of games in North America.
