Flames Who's in and Who Out ?

For me there is 5 that out and what to with the rest ?

Also do we add to the top 4. I say yes.

What we need is more grit in our 6.

Then adding more grit up the bottom 6.

Next what to do on d ?

The 3 kids should be in the starting 6 next season.

So who going out then ?
We have 4 good young Defencemen. (Hanifin, Andersson, Valimaki, and Kylington)

What to do with the farm team who comes up who gets re-signed. Good teams have movement and a stand still.

We had big improvement this year but now we judge by April longer games.

Ok enough talk here's what I see for next year.

Neal (Either get it together ! or get out, We did not like Brouwer and his 3 years)

Brodie. I think time has come for a change.

Frolik. Has this time the top 6 ended and his he willing to play bottom 6.

Smith sorry man you great come playoff time, but up until the last month or so you were questionable and younger is better. So you're might be out due age or money and that's those only factors.

Hamonic We only have so room cap and so much mins on d to give. We have 4 younger guys that deserve to move up.
That is who is out for me.
We need big trade We have the bodies and the picks.
First trade down if possible in the draft I always say this. If we can't a impact right now player getting down and two players is better.

My lines with trades. I know there's going to be some 1 happy playoff team and 12 probably unhappy playoff teams. (well besides Columbus, Islanders, and Hurricanes) And here's the list of trades.

Trade #1: T.Brodie, M.Frolik, and T.Hamonic for K.Kapanen, A.Johnson,and C.Rosen
Trade #2: J.Neal for A.Raanta (Raanta lost his job down the stretch in Arizona and has a bad contract)
Trade # 3 : M.Backlund for A.Martinez
in most of the trades we gain youth and the 1 trade where get older we a cup winner
Deleted contracts 36.435 (including deletion UFAs and RFA that might resign for more)
Added Contracts
Tkachuk 7.5
Bennett 3.0
Kapanen 3.75
Johnsson 3.25
Raanta 4.25
Martinez 4.00
Hathaway 1.25

Toronto is in a huge cap crunch and you’re sending $15 mill in salary to them for 3 low salary players. Do some research at least.

I've never understood the whole trade player A B or C for player D E or F.
In soccer we just muse '**** we need a goalie' as there is no point in more than that.

Do you really not understand it? We can't just outright buy players from other teams and top tier players rarely really go to UFA. Trading is part of the sport, and thus the culture.

Alright as long as we're throwing realism out the window

Out -
Monahan
Frolik
Stone
Neal
Brodie
UFA's not listed (Sorry Hathaway, loved your year but you outpriced yourself)

In-

Johansen
Ellis
Kadri
Eberle
Varlamov

Gaudreau - Johansen - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Kadri - Bennett
Jankowski - Backlund - Eberle
Mangiapane - Ryan - Czarnik

Giordano - Ellis
Valimaki - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic

Rittich
Varlamov

And before someone asks, no, I don't have a reason for why any of the other teams involved do these trades. But they worked on playstation

No, not what I meant, I don't understand why fans here spend their time making up imaginary trades.

Out of everyone you suggest trading, M.Backlund is someone you keep around...Hes' worth more to the team from an example to the younger guys about how to hone your craft and be a consumate professional then A. Martinez..especially given your post saying we have young guys ready to make the jump and be our future. He is He is a lateral move to Hamonic, who you also suggested trading....

Out is Brodie...He needs a change of scenery...

.

Not to condone the trade at all, but I'm pretty sure Alec Martinez with his multiple Stanley Cups can probably teach young players just as much, if not more, as Backlund.

Hamonic stays and James Neal for Anti Raanta is laughably one sided. He didn't lose his job, he was injured. At the begining of the season, he was being discussed as a potential vezina candidate.

I would say Neal has next to zero trade value. The only deal Treliving might be able to swing is bad contract for bad contract ie: Andrew Ladd. Otherwise the Flames are stuck with him & will have to ride this out for another year. Minimum.

Before I post, I want to know if this is going to be the definitive off season trade/roster rebuild thread, or if there will another one?

Question James Neal didn't like being out, thinks he can still be in:

Quote:
"I want to be a top-six guy who is counted on to score goals," he explained. "I want to be an impact player. I've scored 20-plus goals in every one of my years except this year. I know I can get back to being the type of player."

"That was hard," Neal told Kristen Anderson of Postmedia of sitting in the press box. "I've never had to go through that in my career. That was a tough pill to swallow. For me, I think, going forward, you take it. Be honest with yourself... and come back and have something to prove."
