I always love these lists, if simply for the variety and for the arguments that the engender.

Looking back a little on the 2011 lists linked in that large hearted boy blog, I'm shocked at how few of them list PJ Harvey's album.

I like that record a lot. Thurston also released some great new songs for free with his new band Chelsea Light Moving.

Check out the Resident Advisor (RA) list when it eventually comes out. Tends to be a much better list every year.

Anyways not really a list, but my personal vote for BBC Radio 1 Essential mix of the year has to go to Nicolas Jaar. Simply stunning.
