Thought it was pretty solid. So not what I thought it was going to be. It couldn't be more opposite than 2008's Cloverfield.

It was a tense thriller and it worked. 8/10

It was quite good. Everyone I saw it with enjoyed it.

Ending was abrupt, but the ride was thrilling enough that it's forgiving.

I thought it ended as well as I could have. There was so much tension in the movie that it was bound to explode out of it. Spoiler just in case:

Spoiler!

Anyway I thought the movie was great, and the writing was pretty smart with everything tying up at the end abd various parts of the movie being called back throughout the movie.

Took the wife to this yesterday. We both enjoyed it and definitely was not what we expected. I really enjoyed John Goodman's acting.

I think the reason why it felt totally opposite from Cloverfield is that it was never intended to be a sequel or even related to the Cloverfield universe. From my understanding the movie was shot and completed as a film titled The Cellar back in early 2015. It was test screened and eventually shelved. Abrams got involved and they did a few re-writes and re-shoots to tie in the ending to Cloverfield.

I enjoyed it for what it was but the connection definitely felt forced to me.

I always thought the creature in Cloverfield was something that was dormant in the deep sea that woke up and made it's way to land.

If the ending in 10 Cloverfield Lane connects the two movies, then I guess it was alien all along?

The original movie was supposed to be a deep sea creature that was awoken. However this one apparently isn't supposed to be related to the first monster.

"The story of this movie – and it came to us originally as a spec that was very different in a lot of ways and an unrelated thing altogether – is definitely about different kinds of monsters," he says.

"And while the Cloverfield monster isn't in this movie, there's a new monster and there's something else that happens… but I don't want to ruin the ending.

The only thing that connects the two movies is the one safe zone where the military is in control is the spot where Clover was supposedly taken down by the Hammer Down protocol.

There have been a bunch of theories on why Clover woke up.

The probe that fell into the water at the end of the first movie. Oil drilling in the ocean. And if my memory serves me the softdrink company using its biochemistry to make their delicious drink.

In the original isn't their a shot where in the far background you see something fall into the water from the sky? That's why I thought it was aliens
