I don't know. When you resort to reposting dictionary definitions instead of considering how these things apply in a living, evolving situation with the heavy context they carry, I think you've lost the plot.
Saying "Israel has zero control over day to day lives in Gaza" is a completely meaningless and purposely misleading statement then, in that regard, as a lack of control is made completely irrelevant by the extreme impact. And I honestly wonder what you seek to gain by making it and what point you were pretending to have.

For those interested in Palestinian voices or point of view, the podsave the world podacast (launched by people in Obama's NatSec goverment) interviewed Rula Jebreal:

If you want to see just how much control Israel exerts, go read up on the water supply for the people in Gaza. Well, not you. Blankall. It's tragic.
This thread has kind of played out how I thought it would.
I really don't like participating in these threads, because people either side fully with one side accusing the other of atrocities, or some people see things as more grey with both sides having some fault, and get attacked by both sides.
You simply cannot pigeonhole things into one or the other.
1964
February 3 The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded in Cairo by the Arab League. Ahmad Shuqeiri was its first leader, although the organization was de facto controlled by the Egyptian government. The PLO stated their goal as the destruction of the State of Israel through armed struggle and its replacement with an "independent Palestinian state" between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

1989
During 1989, 285 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli security forces, and an additional 17 killed by Israeli civilians. In the same period 19 Israeli civilians and six members of the Israeli armed forces were killed by Palestinians.[39]
July 16 The Tel Aviv Jerusalem bus 405 massacre: the first Palestinian suicide attack inside Israel's borders.
Quote:
Right-wing Israeli opposition leader Ariel Sharon visited the Temple Mount, which is administered by a Waqf. (Under Israeli law, each religious group is granted administration of their holy sites.) The day after the visit, violent confrontations erupted between Muslims and Israeli Police. Arafat named the second intifada the Al-Aqsa Intifada after Sharon's visit, for the Al-Aqsa Mosque contained within the Temple Mount compound (holy also to Jews and Christians). This event is considered by some to be one of the possible catalysts of the second intifada. Palestinian leaders (including the Palestinian Minister of Communication, Imhad Falouji) later admitted publicly that the Intifada had been planned since the end of the Camp David negotiations. A campaign of suicide bombings and terrorist attacks began on September 29, 2000 and within five years left over 1,068 Israelis dead and over 7,000 injured—69 percent of them civilians. Approximately 3,000 Palestinians were also killed in this conflict.
Ultimately, both sides both want to eradicate each other, by both countries leaders. Sharon was infamous throughout his life with huge questionable actions, as does Netanyahu (both basically war hawks).
Why we must resist Netanyahu and the hawks' reckless push for war on Iran
Meanwhile the PLO and Hamas were both created for the sole purpose of the total eradication and replacement of Israel
Both states need to get rid of their current leadership if they ever hope for a peace with both states, and unfortunately neither side want this to happen. I just wish the US would stop unilaterally always back Israel no matter what they do as they are certainly not saints, and provoked the latest round of escalation. Biden's recent statements are atrocious in my opinion.

The IAF bombed a house in the the Al-Shati refugee camp near west Gaza tonight - an unimaginable event that left eight dead, six of them children. Updates at the link, although it's very difficult for them to keep up with the ongoing situation. https://israelpalestine.liveuamap.co...ing-6-children
Al-Shati encompasses about 30 city blocks and houses at least 87,000 people.
In response, Qassam Brigades fired rockets at Ashkelon. Local power station possibly hit.

The bombing was done with no warning. They are just terrorizing the people.
This is who, racist, vicious (devoid of virtue), murderous, settler-colonialist, apartheid, terrorist state israel has the 'right to defend itself' against (according to the west and terrorist israel supporters).
The state of Israel is an extension of the American Empire and from its Inception it was created to protect and enforce the petrodollar in the Middle East by ensuring that Middle Eastern countries will never become strong enough to challenge it. If the US really wanted to create a safe sanctuary for Jews, couldn't they have just sent them to Delaware?
This video contains a clip of the building owner asking Israeli forces to give them 10 more minutes to get equipment out of the building before they destroy it.
This severely limits the abilities for the media outlets in that building to report on what's happening in Gaza to the world.

I have no doubt that this is on purpose.
With Israel stacking ground troops and tanks at the border, combined with the specific targeting and dismantling of media, I worry what they're planning to do is going to make the last week pale in comparison.

By all reports the troops and tanks amassing at the border was to get Hamas to mobilize in the tunnels which Israel then bombed and shelled the entrance and exit of effectively sealing them in.
Time will tell if they actually go in but the last thing Israel wants to do is send troops into Gaza.
