Just terrible shot selection on the two MPs at 40-15. I think that makes 4 of Roger's 7 losses since the start of last year where he's had match points in. Even when he loses at this point it's barely.

Congrats to Delpo, he looked done like dinner at 40-15 on Roger's serve.

Huh! That's Delpo's first 1000 title? Seems surprising to me.

It shouldn't be. Nobody's been able to win a 1000 in nearly a decade because of those four.

Wow clearly there is a reason why I don't commentate on tennis professionally , IMO Delpo looked off in the third set. What a match!! I've never seen Roger as pissed at someone like at the umpire when he was telling him "I told you 4 times you made me look stupid". Delpo and him seem to get heated like back in the day when Roger played Djokovic. There is respect but contempt as well. Also when Federer drilled the ball at Delpo that was 100% the right play, I wish more players did that. It's not nice but it works. Hats off to both men, Miami should be fun!

Yup. I guess in between his US Open and Davis Cup victories, I never thought too much about it.

And Delpo was out for awhile with an injury, too. Makes you wonder if he could've been healthy...
Regardless, he's a fun player to watch. Congrats to him.

Felix just saved a match point. It's 5-5 in the 3rd set of Miami Qualifying against MacKenzie McDonald

Tough luck Felix - In other news, no wildcard for Genie this week in Miami, she has to go the qualifying route.

That sucks about Felix! Hopefully he is able to get a LL entry.
The only thing that sucks more is this article by ESPN. To have a list of 20 most dominate athletes in the past 20 years and to NOT include Nadal is laughable. I would say that Nadal at the French Open is the most dominate athletic performance of all time. The only other men that come close to being as dominate as Nadal at the French is Lance Armstrong at the Tour de France (Lance was caught doping to do what he did, while Nadal has been clean his entire career) and Phelps at the Olympics. To have a record of 79-2 and 10 titles (which if he just played in the French Open would put him 5th all-time for Grand Slams only behind Fed, Sampras, Djokovic and Bjorg). He has more French Open titles than Agassi, McEnroe, Connors and Lendly have total Grand Slams. And to not put him on the list.......come on man
http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/sto...-last-20-years
(can you tell I'm itching for Nadal to come back and for Clay season to begin ha)

To be honest, I'm more shocked than Sidney Crosby didn't crack the top 20. However, then you realize it's ESPN and that they hate hockey and then it makes sense.

Hey, Genie Bouchard won her qualifying match today. Before you get too excited, she beat the #351 ranked female player in the world.
/Better than losing, right?

Peter Polansky fared better than Felix today as he defeated Reilly Opelka in Miami Open qualifying.

I have to look at it as if any win for Genie is a good win at this point. That's how far she's fallen.

ok I'm back after sobbing bitterly at the Flames and Federer biting the dust simultaneously yesterday. if the other members of the big 4 aren't going to be around to give Roger compelling storylines this year, then Delpo more than fills those shoes as a big time rival. nobody else on tour fires bullets so easily from every part of the back court and that's a huge puzzle that Roger is going to have to think about for their next few meetings. I do think the time it took to put away Coric the day before made a big difference.
anyways on to the spring hard finale. dammit no FAA already, hopefully Shapo makes some inroads this time around.
