The Bow was a good start, now with Telus Sky and the NMC it's taken another step and the guys designing the library are bound to come up with something to talk about.
Things are trending the right way, that's for sure.

You might be right, but a couple of the recent renderings seemed to definitely show black. Or at least darker than the original renderings that got everyone excited

Are the shrinking windows and expanding spandrel (?) on the side new? I wonder how the high-up residents will feel about their smaller windows.

I think all projects should be required to show one rendering depicting the building in a typical Calgary winter scenario. Wet slushy streets, dirty snow piles by the sidewalks, all the windows nice and dusty, and maybe some transient fellow having a smoke by the side of the building.
If it still looks good, stamp of approval!

Telus sky is a bit overhyped for me. It's nice, but nothing to write home about. Kind of a giant chimney, but to each his own. Projects like nueva have more appeal in my opinion.

I hope so. I'll always be slightly bitter about this one.
My team was in the running for this and our partnership was tailor-made for this project. I think the winning team will do a great job for sure; but I know our team could have brought something really incredible given our ideas for this, and our combined portfolios. Won't explain what happened behind the scenes, and I do wish the library project to be a success.
It was already over-budget right off the bat, which is why you didn't see the winning submission - which did have conceptual renderings - when it was announced.

One's a physical model. They never look that good. It's not going to look yellow.

Glass never looks as magical/transparent in real life as it does in the renderings either. It wouldn't look like that, black exterior or not.

Sort of takes away the skyline from the bow unfortunately.

No... No...
Calgary needs to keep adding projects like this. The next one should "take away" from Telus Sky.

bow, telus and Brookfield are way too close together. More the better but would be nice for something iconic to hit the west so the skyline can balance out a bit

This is like complaining that a hot girl came to a party and it's taking away from another hot girl because they're standing close together. It's not exactly a bad problem to have.

The display that 5th Ave Place has in it's food court suggest all the work they're doing is just to freshen up the food court and replace the water feature with planters. No expansion or anything.
I'm also hearing TransCanada will take Imperial's space in 5th Ave when they stupidly flee to the suburbs. Not a surprise there, with TC Tower packed, and staff scattered across Telus and Hanover.
