Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Buffalo Sabres expected to place veteran Dman, Zach Bogosian on waivers today.

He'd be a RHS option for the bottom pairing - but dat contract!!

You could do a deal where they pay you a pick to take him, plus eat 50% I guess.

I honestly don't think Bogosian is as bad defensively as some say, but even with just this year remaining, his $5.14 million cap hit is terrible.

The Flames' cap space is precious, they have better ways to use it.

Curious the flames could move a low round pick for him with salary retained??

Sure, I'd move a 7th for Bogosian and a 2nd.

Really, if come trade deadline and they don't get anyone, is it really that precious still? Not saying they should pick up Bogosian, but the extra cap space is essentially useless in about a week and a half right?

He's on waivers from BUFFALO. How bad do you have to be to be waived off that team right now?

That is dead cap space written all over it. I'd sooner take Davidson and Yelesin at league minimums over that bloated waste of space.

True. The timing of the waiver decision doesn't work though, because I imagine Treliving has irons in the fire. If it doesn't pan out, or if there's money left after other deals, I suspect he could offer them something miniscule to get Bogosian, with retention, as depth insurance.

Well sure, but I'd be floored if the Flames don't use the space freed up by Frolik on someone like Toffoli or Niederreiter.

But is Bogosian better than Stone? Stone has really struggled IMO. So if there's a bit of money left close to the deadline what's the harm?

Did they play him briefly at forward this year?

Free replacement for Hamonic! Then free RHS RW!

Depending on how long Gio and Hamonic are out, I'd rather use the cap space on a depth dman. Again, not saying I want Bogo, but I think that's more of a need than Toffoli.

He's not better than Stone. I've seen him enough over the last couple of years to know he has zero defensive awareness and his physical gifts that covered up his lack of hockey IQ are pretty much gone now.

Might be one of the worst contracts in the league at the moment.

If we're getting overpaid injury-prone RHD for whatever reason, I'd rather just pick up Mike Green from Detroit and throw him on PP2.

I can see him getting picked up and going back to Winnipeg.

I'll take your word on his ability. The contract doesn't bug me because (a) it's expiring and (b) I'd expect significant retention. My assumption is that the Flames would have unused space for the rest of the year.

Even if the Sabres eat half that salary that takes up half of what the Flames have available to spend on a winger.

I don't see it happening. Not without other deals to move salary and why do that to bring in Bogosian??

He's decent when he's actually in the line-up. That's been an extremely limiting factor, unfortunately.

Been looking forward to this contract coming off the books. Reinhart and Olofsson are getting raises for next year.

Looks like contract termination is coming, after which Bogosian would be UFA.

Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres
We have suspended defenseman Zach Bogosian due to failure to report to the Rochester Americans.

There will be no further information or comment at this time.

What an idiot to leave that money on the table. Buffalo must be happy.
