1. Calgary players only
2. I'll look at games played, production and PPG to list options.
3. My cut off won't effect options as I'll go deeper than required
4. I'll label them by rank (3rd line LW) but don't select the player that matches that role the best, pick the best player.
Day to Day
We elect a position, say 2nd line RW, remove that name and do the 3rd line RW the next day.
I'll post a summary as we go along.

Between Macoun and Phaneuf, I went with Dion. When he was a Flame he was one of the best dman in the league. The trade and what happened in TO soured Flame Fans, but wow those first 3-4 seasons!

I have been persuaded by some of the arguments about Phaneuf in the last thread. His career after the first three seasons went into a tailspin, but while Phaneuf was with the Flames he played at a level that would certainly place him among the Flames' greats.
It's also really saddening to think that him being overplayed by the Flames in his third season could have been what resulted in his hip issues and changed the trajectory of his career.

Phaneuf was very elite here at one point. Very electric and polarizing player. Left in a bad way and wasn’t as good after he left, but he was a Norris runner up and an all star team guy, with 3 seasons where he had 17+ goals while being one of the biggest hitters in the game
Macoun likely my favorite remaining but I guess in then end I want Brodie and Macoun on this team the same way I wanted Backlund and Conroy or Pepper- good players with nice tenure but with higher end options still on the table- I can’t ignore Phaneufs early impact
Brodie all the way for me. Life-long Flame drafted in the 4th round and is now a top pairing defenceman on the best pairing in the NHL? He belongs there.
I hope we re-sign him.

Macoun was an excellent defenceman for a lot of years, if Risebrough wasn't such a moron Macoun should have spent his whole career here. Underrated with great stats for such a defensively responsible player. Dion was flashy but I wouldn't trust him to defend a lead.

Controversial player but has to be Phaneuf. I just can’t leave one of his first three seasons off a best player list. Others have been more consistent for longer, but none can match 07-08 Phaneuf.
