Make sure to hang in there for game 4 vs Edmonton, it's a doozy. You might want to bring a cozy chair and a cocktail for that one.
By the way, I'll post game 3 on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.

Wait, wait. You have to tell me though. How did you come across all of this? Did you work in newspapers at one point?
Also, would in interested to compare your game logs to those from Hockey-Reference. Here is the opener against NYI: https://www.hockey-reference.com/box...810060CGY.html

This thread made me go watch game 6 highlights from 1989 against the Habs. I was 2 at the time, but how did that second Montreal goal count? Clear goalie interference on Vernon it looked like.

Back then guys like Glenn Anderson made a living by just running into the goalie and hoping the puck went in too.

Game 3 - Monday, October 10, 1988 - Detroit Red Wings 2 at Calgary Flames 5
================================
For now I want to hold off on where this material came from
and how it came about, but yes it does exist for other seasons
and for all teams.
If I do one game each day, this will be about a 100 day project,
so I guess that seems like a reasonable timetable for now, but
I am located in a Covid hotspot, so circumstances could change
at any time.
For now, just look forward to the post for game 4 on Saturday
at 5 p.m., because like I said, it's a doozy vs. Edmonton

This is great. Really brings back good memories.
My parents and I used to watch/listen to all the games and keep track of the scores in a notebook. Started with the 87/88 season and ended in 91/92.

Games two and three were on national television.
The second game, Flames-Kings, was on HNIC at 2030h and part of the first regular season doubleheader telecast for HNIC. The third game was on TSN.
I have been able to collect that information through the library and finding old schedules. I was too young to understand the scheduling and complain.

Love it! Keep them coming as these are some of the high points in my day. A few observations...
1. I had forgotten how hot Hrdina started that season with 11 points in 6 games. He seemed super streaky.
2. Insane depth chart. Wow. Crazy how stacked our lineup was. The defense was just so good as well. The fact that Dana Murzyn wasn't even a regular yet says a lot.
3. Mark Hunter: I didn't know he was getting reps on the first line. It's funny to think he never really reached his true potential during his CGY run. I believe he ultimately got hurt for parts of the season and during the playoffs. I know he also blew out his knee in the 89-90 season. Fully healthy on the top line with Mullen and Gilmour, he probably could have gone 40-40-80 all while sort of serving as protection for Killer and Mullen. All worked out though in the long run
4. Another fun tidbit in the Minny game was Mullen's goal being waved off. His 51-59-110 stat line is so engraved in my head, so it's funny to think that it really should have been 52-59-111.
5. Toughness. Wow. What an era. Every team dressed like 4-5 guys who could absolutely chuck 'em. Hell, Shane Churla was probably the toughest of the bunch. IMO, 1988-1996 is my favorite era for hockey. Between the toughness and the offense--just so much to dig into. Reviewing stats from that era just seems a bit more fun that looking at stats from the past 15 years.

These are great, thanks for posting these. I unfortunately was not born yet to see the Flames win the cup so this is a special treat for me to see the 88/89 season game by game.
