Hope he earns a substantial raise due to a massive year this year.

Just one? Teams don’t get discounts from +25-goal scorers. There was never going to be a discount.

Yeah if Mango gets 25 next year the Flames will have no issue giving him something like a three-year, $10 million deal or something similar. I don't think this is a case where he needs to be kept at a super long term, but he'll be an important part of the team if he continues to progress.
Andersson, on the other hand, should be given six-to-eight years whenever possible.

Flames sign Mangiapane (1 yr, $715k, 2 way)

No. When Francis reported that Mangiapane had come down off his initial ask, he also noted that his QO was $715,000. There was never any information about what the Flames were offering.

Looks like Andy lost that game of chicken with Tre.

Glad they didn’t split the difference. As Scorp noted with how badly the Flames are cap crunched, he really gave himself a little edge when it comes to making the big club. Even if it’s at his own expense for the time being.
And if there are hard feelings, well that’s a pretty sweet contract to trade. You’d think it would be worth something.

Is treliving not the best GM when it comes to Rfa negotiations. Dubas should take notes.

Flames offer was higher but Mangiapane insisted to leave money on the table so Tre could build a cup winner around him.

And he couples that with absolute professionalism and respect for all players in the media.

Comparing and apple to an apple would be Chucky to Mitch. An orange to an apple is Eatbread to Mitch.
Edit: I’d never say apple to apple for what it’s worth. Just had to dumb it down for the cynic

Gaudreau and Marner are quite similar. Treliving stuck to his guns and got a pretty good deal, for the time. Dubas made a third year guy with one stellar year and two good ones one of the highest paid players in the league.

Gaudreau and Marner however arnt. Different time of signings but Gaudreau’s pct to cap hit is lower. Factor in Tre’s other Rfa signings to dubas and it’s a no brainer.

But Gaudreau, Monahan and Lindholm are affordable apples that are comparable to Toronto's exorbitantly over-priced apples.

Would you have expected a discount otherwise?
