No call on which goalie yet? Glass hasn't gotten a game in yet and I suspect Parsons will get some time.

Great test to see who can keep up, a good trial-by-fire will show who deserves to play with the big boys... It's still just pre-season, there's nothing to lose here

Parsons has a huge opportunity tonight to show his stuff on the big stage, with a weak lineup and question marks in goal throughout the organization.

Prediction: For however long he plays tonight, Glass will be lights out.

Imagine there will be another round of cuts after this game. Likely a final evaluation for many of these players. Get the list down to a manageable roster.

A random an aside, but listening to the latest 31 Thoughts Podcast Friedman says he spoke to Gulutzan last summer I believe. Gulutzan told him Brent Burns and Dougie Hamilton were the 2 best Dmen at one-timers in the league.

Seems odd considering one-timers is not what Dougie did often or particularly well. He would stop almost every pass that came to him and take his time for a wrister.

The more I hear from Gulutzan, the happier I am he's gone.

Which makes the time it took the team to put Dougie on PP1 last year even more laughable

Gulutzan.... what a terrible hire. So glad he's out of here, even happier that he's with the oilers now.

I would like to see video evidence of these so-called one timers Hamilton is among the best at. Because I can count the total on one hand the number of times he did it as a Flame.

Wrister, yes he was among the best. But he almost never did slap shots, let alone one-timers.

I don't think Gulutzan ever really knew his own team.

Edit - Also haven't seen mention of it yet but this morning a bunch of Flames who played in China took to the ice for a skate, most notably Tkachuk. Good to hear.

I haven't spoken a bad work of Gulutzan, but if he knew Hamilton had the best one-timer in the league, what kind of coach would identify this and then never put him in a position to take one timers on the PP?

Tyler Parsons set to start in net tonight with Jeff Glass backing up. No word on if/how playing time will get split up. #Flames

Talk about one huge challenge for Parsons. He should be facing a ton of high quality chances.

After this game there should be no doubt who does or doesn't belong in the NHL.
