I just went to the online chat system with Rogers to ask about it. The rep told me that it was a change and there was nothing she could do. I told her it was included in the 2 year contract and asked if I could just change my contract by not paying for a portion of my bill if I wanted to change. She told me I could change plans or go to another carrier. I love how they just don't care.

I still have 14 months on my contract so I'll stay until the end of it, but I will be leaving the second it is up.

Yup, I had the same thing. They offered me a 10% discount on it and I told them they can shove their discount with the rest of the things I just cancelled and that I would take my cell business somewhere else once my contract was up. I hope in the long run the pirates who put out tv content online bankrupt these greedy companies.

i also use their Roam like Home feature and it goes up every 6 month either in how much they charge you per day ( US was 5 per day no up to 7 per day) or in how many days in a month before they cap it for the rest of the billing period

they are just theives- they change their fees constantly during your contract period but if you change anything you pay an arm and a leg -

Wish we had a CRTC that had some balls

Same boat here. Game Centre was really the only thing keeping me with Rogers and since my contract is up I will be shopping around for the best deal this weekend. They don't give two ####s though.

Same with me - I called in, was told they couldn't do anything. They told me to call another line which was "NHL specialists" after them saying there was nothing they could do. NHL specialists told me there was nothing they could do either, but after asking them 'what should I do? I'm going to be out $200' they encouraged me to call back Customer Relations. I did that, and I asked for it to be escalated to a manager after hearing the same 'nothing we can do'.

I explained to the manager that one of the reasons I signed a 2-year contract, even though their service was more expensive, was that the NHL Game Centre off-set that difference for their cost. Without that, the services were just more expensive. And that is the truth. I was nice and continued to tell them that, no, I wasn't mad at them personally. I was just frustrated and upset at the Rogers 'switcheroo'.

I asked them if there was a way they could offset the difference because this is a product I will now have to pay for. They lost their 'partnership' so the only recourse is to get some sort of better plan or credit. Personally, I was able to get a better rate on my plan which nearly offset that cost of NHL Game Centre. That probably means I paid to much for my plan to begin with, but I left the call satisfied.

I encourage you to call instead of using their chat line and to ask for a manager. All in, it took me about 1h to resolve. Time is money, but in my case, I felt it was worth it.

Hope this helps.

I’ve been a GCL subscriber for several years (not a Rogers mobile customer, so never received it for “free”). Last year I paid month to month, because in my market outside Calgary, I could a good number of televised Flames games in certain months, and very few in others, so I just paid for GCL in the lean TV months. I’m hoping Rogers continues to offer GCL on a month to month basis. But their most recent advertising does not indicate that month to month will be available. In which case I’ll be forking over the full season $200 fee.
I like GCL as it is portable, have watched Flames games with no problem while in the US, Europe and Asia.

Last night I used my phone and signed into GCL and was able to watch all the games that were on. Does GCL do a free trial at this point in the season? If not, I'm pretty happy that I'm getting it for free. I was going to pay for Centre Ice, but if I get GCL for free I'll watch it that way.

The only thing keeping me with Rogers now would be the lack of coverage from other cheaper carriers here. My contract ends at the end of November I think and I may just hold off renewing and waiting to see if I move somewhere with more choices.

If this post is inappropriate I apologize and plz delete. But its easier for me to stream it on a gray market website than to pay for it and watch it on game center. And the quality is the same as my TV. Why would I pay 200+ dollars to watch 40 or 50 Jets games with the rest on TV that I already pay for?

Surprised...when I tried it didn't work, however, when I clicked "purchase" it opened up a pop-up that said "Remember if you have a Share Everything Plan or Rogers Ignite, Gamecenter is Free".

So I'm going to reach out to Rogers about that.

Called Rogers to complain but apparently it is still included if you have Rogers TV. But they did tell me that it would be cut from that for next season.

Hopefully you got a screen capture. I'd think they would be obligated to renew your subscription if they accidentally left it in the app.

It's 2018 people. There is no reason to pay for hockey anymore.

Every game with both home, away and french feeds is available... For free

if you're worried about pop ups just get an ad-blocker. Ublock origin is my 1st suggestion.

I didn't know that in 2018 it wasn't illegal to use illegal streaming services.

It may be illegal for the streamer, but it's not illegal to watch it

If it's readily available and free, and I'm not going to have an angry letter from my ISP, I couldn't give less ####s

I live in rural BC, so satellite TV is my only option. I have decent internet, but it also has its challenges (I have Shaw in a small town, and use Ubiquiti radio relays to get it at home, 26 km away. Long story.)

I have a Bell account that is "registered" to my old Calgary address, so I get an Alberta feed which of course includes Sportsnet in all its flavours and gives me every Flames game. When I'm out of town I can usually - but not always - use my Bell "Fibe TV" app to watch games. If using my laptop I can Chromecast to a TV. Quality is so-so, but quite watchable. Occasional hiccups to be sure.

I've used **** nhl streams as well. Often not as good and malware is an issue. OTOH, I'm a techie and can generally avoid the problems.

I've used GCL which was free during the playoffs last year and watched games. Not overly impressed - quality was "acceptable", just. Delay was intolerable compared to TV, especially if online on CP....just sayin'.

Personally, I resent paying what I must for Flames games, but I can afford it. My biggest problem is that we travel a lot in the winter and access can be a b**ch. Streaming from alternate sources is the only choice, but as noted above, quality is not always .... good.

One of these days the NHL will figure out that their blackouts are stupid, and harken back to a long-gone day of cable-only delivery. People are mobile, and want to watch their teams all the time, wherever they are. (However, as long as Gary is around, don't count on it.)

Because I don’t watch illegal streams I’m a grandpa? Good one. it’s illegal to stream games, and no, I don’t support that. I guess that makes me a square. I’m cool with that.

Since I don’t have to pay union dues I have some extra change laying around to pay for an authorized channel. Sweet deal for me.
