I feel compelled to watch Geostorm. Is it potentially the worst film I'll have seen since Sausage Party?

I guess it depends on which version of "sausage party" you're talking about....

The Film.

It would be the worst movie known to mankind except there was also 'This is the End' so its a bit of a toss up now.

Mind you, I havent seen Geostorm yet and thats getting rave reviews.

The Meg should be on your list for worst films.

Nonsense! Shark movies are exempt! Everyone knows that.

Jóhann Jóhannsson did the soundtrack!
My sister recommends Mandy but says she doesn't think she'd watch it a 2nd time.

Watched 3 films this weekend at CIFF:

Climax: I expected this to be insane but was pretty tame for Gaspar Noe. I enjoyed the 1st half of the film but the 2nd half dragged. Kinda reminds me of Mother! in a way, it puts you in an uneasy state. 6/10

Hummingbird Project: Interesting elements and story but didn't come together. Alexander Skarsgard's performance was pretty amazing. 6/10

Cold War: The most beautiful film I've seen since Barry Lyndon. I'm trying to find a copy of Ida at the moment. 8/10

I agree about Climax. Certainly was challenging to watch at points, saw a few people walk out of the theatre but I really enjoyed it. Seeing Cold War on Wednesday and can't wait!

I really liked Hereditary. It's not a movie everyone will like because it's dark, dreadful and simply not a feel good film. That said it's a really well done movie about witchcraft that draws out the suspense and despair without getting boring or cliché.

I saw this movie Sunday - funniest movie of the year, and a real crowd pleaser. Most in the audience were applauding when it was over. Even people who don't like metal will enjoy this movie. It goes into wider release soon - hopefully this little movie from Finland gets more love.

No way. . . I saw the Finnish trailer for that back in April and knew I had to watch it, whether I knew what they were saying or not. The fact that I'll get to see it with subtitles I understand just made my day.

I've already gone and bought a ticket for next Sunday's showing. Thank you!!!

Boy Venom is getting totally soiled by reviewers. Good actor, cool comic character, Marvel budget, and solid trailers. Quite a feat to turn this into a turd.

It's like they let DC run the show.

And no Nadal Fan you don't have to come and defend DC's honour.

It is a Sony movie however, and we know how they've treated marvel properties over the last 15 years.

I hate you so much.

All I asked for was a good Venom movie. They cast Tom Hardy who is a really good actor! How did this all go so sideways so fast?

Of all the Marvel movies, I know this was Sony who screwed up Venom last time, but of all the movies this is the one that has to be a complete mess?

Bah!

Bah!

The only reason Spiderman: Homecoming was good was because Sony let Marvel have creative control. They did not let Marvel have any input into the Venom movie however, and the results show. Sony really needs to realize that they just have no idea how to make good superhero movies and let Marvel do it for them. They still all of the revenue, Marvel gets access to more characters for their movie universe, and we could get a good Venom movie

I just finished watching Venom. It was...basically a hot mess. Every mark they aimed for, they missed. It's basically Sony's "Suicide Squad".

Which is a shame. I was hoping that Sony might luck into getting this one right.

I went into Venom not expecting a ton as it's not technically in the MCU along the likes of Thor and Iron Man. It's owned by Sony. The budget is much smaller, yada yada yada.

The movie was well done. The dialogue and timing were great, the special effects and graphics were better than Banner in the Hulk buster suit in Infinity War. It was a fun movie.

The climax was a little anti-climactic, but for an origin story and introduction, it fit the bill.

Better than the criticism it's received from the overpaid critics. People's expectations are too high these days. It's a super hero movie done well with a small budget.
