So World Championships, WJC and under 18s in Europe this year. When will the IIHF lose its Euro bias and give us some of these tournaments as we actually buy tickets and show up.

From what I understand the World Championship does really well in Europe, which is fine as it is a tournament the Europeans care more about than North Americans. The primary viewership for the WC are Euros.
The WJC has been pretty much held in Canada and in the US near Canada 7 out of the last 12 years. Think the IIHF recognizes the Canadians make the tournament really profitable.
The U18 is really a bad tournament for Canada. Every other country sends their best players to the tournament, while many of Canada's best are still playing in the CHL playoffs. One of the reasons USA dominates the U18 is their team has played together for 2 years.

Ok wheres the tradeoff? WJC does crappy in Europe except for games where the host nation is playing. If Europe gets the WC every year, NA should get the WJC every year because we support all the games, due largely to the ticket packages. Understand we aren't as competitive as other nations on U18 but we still give a damn and would pay to see the up and comers.
Just pisses me off that Europe dominates the IIHF and we're marginalized because we are in North America. Colonialism still lingers on...
Forgot to mention would be very hard for NHL/CHL cities in Canada to commit to host the World Championship and U18s a year(s) in advance when they have to keep their schedules open for possible playoff games.

Except for Edmonton, because Edmonton is no good.

interesting to note that Hockey Canada has now snubbed Josh Ho-Sang for the Ivan Hilnka and this tournament.
Quote:
What was deemed a minor penalty on the ice will have a major impact on Josh Ho-Sang and the Windsor Spitfires next season.
The Ontario Hockey League suspended Ho-Sang for 15 games Monday for contact from behind on London Knight defenceman Zach Bell in Game 4 of the Western Conference quarter-final series with the two teams on March 27. The suspension will begin at the start of the 2014-15 season.
Quote:
Monday’s suspension could also have shed some light on why Ho-Sang was left off the training camp roster for Canada’s under-18 team despite finishing tied for 17th in OHL scoring in the regular season with 32 goals and 85 points in 67 games. Hockey Canada tends to abide by any league suspension in place.
“You would have to confirm with Hockey Canada on that, but I had extensive conversations with Hockey Canada in the last two weeks leading up to this incident and they (Hockey Canada officials) indicated they were taking him over to Europe,” Boughner said. “Through my conversations, everything was positive with Josh going over with the team.”
