If that happens and if RT improves to a point where it's not as stark a difference then people will switch even if there is a penalty for doing so. 90% of the performance for 75% of the price is enticing, but right now it's like 80% of the performance.
Well, I snagged the 7900XTX today, so I did my part! haha

This will be my first new card since my 680 Pretty excited, but it is definitely offputting seeing how the price has balooned for GPUs, especially for the higher end cards. I'm glad Intel is starting to get into the game, and I am very happy with the strides AMD has made relative to NVIDIA. Hopefully more competition results in a better consumer outcome over the next several years.

Sticking with my 3060TI just can't justify these prices.

Lol chemgear I saw your message about the 4090 and went so fast I bought one but didn't realize it wasn't the FE until after I finished!

I wonder if someone would trade for an FE.. or I guess I could sell it and buy an FE off of Facebook.

Or buy a new case.

F you BestBuy, I already have one backorder you haven't filled that you said you would and have been selling the card on the site since.

Whatever, I guess I'll keep it and see what happens.

Yeah, I tried to post a fast a possible lol. But better to have it than not. And at worst, you can return it in store if you change your mind!

You know what happens? Sweet, sweet gaming.

(Actually, it means you're buying a 4K 165 hz monitor next month )

Installed a 5800X3D to replace my 5600X. Haven't seen a noticeable difference so far. But haven't played much.

Speaking of which...

Anyone have a 5 series AMD CPU and want an Uncharted code? Best Buy sent me two and I redeemed one already. Let me know if you're interested in it. Steam gifts are welcome!

The only caveat is that I think you'll need to have a 5 series AMD CPU. You need to register with AMD Rewards and download a CPU checker from AMD. If it detects your processor properly it'll attach the game to your Steam account. It's fairly convoluted but it works.

Let me know!

Send me one! Also I can't imagine you would see much difference in games between 5600x and 5800x3d as most games aren't cpu bound.

Best Buy just charged my card for the 4090FE, my order says it's being shipped by Canada Post! Yay!

Arrives by Jan 3.

I just upgraded from a 3600x to the 5800x3d, in gaming the only difference I really noticed was in Escape from Tarkov. According to the interwebs, it's poorly optimized and CPU bound. Noticed a big jump there though. So far no complaints.

Right now just waiting for a 4090 to show itself. Also pondering a new recording PC, but havnt nailed down components yet.

Micro Center is one hell of a store. Gotta stop going.

Brutal prices.

On the plus side 3D cache chips coming from AD for 7000 series Ryzen is cool.

I don't know anybody personally going AMD but sounds like something to keep an eye out for if you got an applicable 7900 xtx model

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023...tling-problem/

Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4090 has been through the PR wringer for the last few months because of problems with its power connector, but AMD's newest Radeon cards are proving capable of having issues, too. Some users have been complaining of overheating and thermal throttling in their RX 7900 XTX GPUs, and AMD confirmed that there was an issue in a statement to Tom's Hardware today.

Independent testing suggests that the overheating issue may be caused by a faulty vapor chamber in the GPU cooler. The problem only appears to affect 7900 XTX models using AMD's reference design, including its fan and heatsink. ASRock, Gigabyte, PowerColor, XFX, and others all offer versions of the XTX with AMD's reference cooler alongside its own custom-designed versions. Versions with custom coolers shouldn't be affected by this specific problem.

I think I'm just gonna bow-out of this generation again and hope my 1080 keeps trucking for a few more years. Maybe with the 5000 series Nvidia can get their #### back together and the prices come back to Earth somewhat. My PS5 and Series X have been a much better value, and both of them combined cost less than a single mid-range GPU

There's plenty of 4070 Ti's available online at most retailers. Cheapest I've seen is a Gigabyte from Canada Computers for $1120 and still available. Still overpriced.

Yeah cheaper to order from B&H in the US, $799USD is less than $1100 CAD.

I was tempted for just a minute to get a 4070ti even if it is the same performance as my 3090. Way more efficient than a 3090. The 3090 is a heater too.

I purchased a CableMod kit and I'm not sure I like it. They do look pretty nice but man the motherboard cable is HUGE, I'm not sure I'll be able to fit it all in the space I have. Maybe if I use a bunch of cable ties...

I wish the kit came with shorter cables (I think that's the first time I've ever had that thought about power supply cables).
