I do not appreciate how Monahan can't pull off a zone entry to save his life right now.

Glad to see Monahan and Gaudreau getting it done offensively to start the year despite being saddled with minimum salary plugs so far.

This team needs Dube back and I think he should get a look with Monahan and Gaudreau

Weird. I have thought that Monahan looks better carrying the puck than he has for over a year.

I haven’t been able to watch every second of every game, but it sure seems like they’re benefiting from all the attention Lindholm and Tkachuk are getting.

You can’t argue with your #2C and #2LW putting up the numbers they have.

Gaudreau looks like he has his confidence back to me. I have really enjoyed watching him so far in stark contrast to last season where he just didn't look like himself most of it.

Great start to the season for both. From the fancy stats and from the eye test IMHO.
I agree if you trash players when they are playing poorly but don't give recognition when they play well, the you lose all credibility.

This forum can be pretty silly devaluing our own players sometimes:

Diminutive winger goes career point per game, top 15 in scoring since he joined the league, absolute game breaker against all odds = SCRUB, trade him to Philly for Konecny (0.53 career ppg)

Centerman which we have historically lacked: wins draws, consistently scores at 30/year pace, most consistent scorer from his draft class = SCRUB trade him and Johnny for PLD (never scored close to the pace of Monahan, has potential but may never reach it, quits on his team).

Silly I tell ya!

That is weird. He looked abysmal last night I thought.

I had no doubt that last regular season was just a blip. Still don’t think they have what it takes come playoffs. Hopefully they prove me wrong this playoffs .

Disagree completely.

He’s handled the puck much more this year and has been deferring to Johnny way less this season.

Had some really nice passes last night too and was generating a lot of offence.

If the second Gaudreau goal was Monahan’s people would be going on and on about the pass.

Must be me then? Monahan is atrocious at controlled entries (worst on the team?) but last night seemed particularly ugly to me. I have no doubt that some of it is due to having Johnny as a linemate. When Johnny is on the ice, just give him the puck kind of thing. Gaudreau ranks as one of the best in the league at it. Anyway, I hope Monahan continues to work at it.

You're allowed to disagree with the premise. Where you overstep is by saying that there shouldn't be any such thread.

5 games in with a losing record, and getting favorable match ups on a nightly basis and fans are here to clamor that batman and robin have found their magic from two years ago.

There are more than two players on a hockey team. What’s wrong with pointing out two players that have played well?

They've been bosses. PP and 5 on 5.

The effort is just on another level and the chemistry after what seemed like a lengthy absence is once again evident.

There's just much more efficiency in their decision making, they go to the right places and find each other even in high traffic. Remembering now what fun it was to watch these guys for a few years there.

Except I didn't say that.
My words were this: Not worthy of thread-dedicated praise yet

I didn't say there shouldn't be a thread. Rather I said I disagreed with the level of praise being offered - describing it as "thread-dedicated praise".

That's different from saying "this thread shouldn't exist'.

I mean what I say and I say what I mean.
Don't read beyond my words.

They're producing 5v5 and on the power play. I CAN APPRECIATE THAT. Can I not? In a thread dedicated to appreciating these things?
Man we have got to learn to be happy around here again. This is nuts.

Someone: I'm gonna create a thread about things that make me happy!"

CP: "Your happiness is misguided and stupid. You're stupid and nobody should be happy about anything"

More CP: "It too early to be happy or positive. But I will fight you to the death and debate you all day long on why my unhappy things are more important than your unhappy things. And your unhappy things are much less significant"

Happy thread maker: " Well, ####. Now I'm unhappy about trying to be happy"

Good job everybody!

There was exactly ONE post in the thread when you did that.

And yes, you did say there shouldn't be a thread praising Monahan and Gaudreau, because the players in question are not worthy of such a thread. That is the exact meaning of your words. I'm not reading anything beyond what you said.

According to Jiri, things like that aren't important enough to have a thread. So shut up, because reasons.
