The Den used to have character and every now and again you can see it, but its been so watered down now its brutal. Still, in the summer its an awesome patio.

That said, also the farthest thing from a club and if you're trying to pick up girls your best bet is at a Cab or St. Patrick's Day.

Or Thursden, Thursden works well too if you can manage it.

U of C bars got bad once they put money in, i can't recall the name of the one down by the bookstore, that place was also a good way to spend an afternoon drinking surrounded by 1988 coloured walls and furniture

I've been to the Duke 4-5 times in my life, and have never once remembered leaving the bar for the night.

That was a skanktuary, and I miss it!

I went to the Duke once.. I ended up somewhere else shortly after where there was a fight outside, I went to the window to see what was going on and my friends asked me what I saw. Literally all I saw was a huge native guy so I said "a huge native" and they all laughed hysterically.

Then we went to Denny's and I saw a 7' tall cowboy. No joke.

True story.

We ask him, never having met him, 'want to go get drink beer and get hammered with us'. Thinks for a second, 'yes I do'. 15 years later, still friends. He introduced me to the name, fotze.

Max's, good times had there, and yes, lame paint job now that I think about it, didn't seem to care though.

Makes you wonder how much alcoholism internship causes. Dirt poor drinking in 3rd year limited options, make $50k and then go back for 4th year. Its ridiculous.
Did you actually say it this way ? or was that a typo?

What, the bar or the patrons? Perhaps both?

Pretty sure it's closed, that location has killed many a restaurant and club.

Thursden is very overrated. Tons of guys and very few girls. Roadhouse still remains popular, despite my efforts to suggest somewhere else and be out voted by friends. There is no question that the best place to meet great looking girls is Hudsons. I've never had a bad night there, and there seems to be way more girls then guys every time I've went.

Backalley used to be good, maybe I just got older and realized how greasy it was. I agree that I miss Tequila- however if it was still around I may give it the same review as Backalley. Ranchmens is fun for dancing especially, however it is very inconvenient to get to depending on where you live.

My Top Votes

Club:
1) Hudsons
2) Roadhouse
3) Mansion
4) HiFi
5) Den
6) Ranchmens

Pub:
1) Dobsons
2) Melrose
3) Kilkenny
4) Ship and Anchor
5) The Grad Lounge
6) Bottle Screw Bills- Go around the world in 80 beers!
7) Shanks

Keep in mind Hudsons' is the proverbial birth child of an Edmonton franchise. So if your fries are extra greasy, you'll know why.

I saw a guy lose all his childhood memories in Max's. He got thrown to the floor by a bouncer and his head sounded like a watermelon on pavement.

Hudson's has been added to Rexall as a place I will not support.

I like West. I got my highest batting percentage going on there. As some people said it does have a bit of an older crowd from what I gather, but not too old.

Looking forward to skipping out on work at 2pm on Fridays again this spring/summer and hitting the west patio!
