Icon48 Devante Smith-Pelly, Mike McKenna, Joseph Cramarossa on waivers. UPD: all clear

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
WASH has Smith-Pelley on waivers not Jaskin

Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
The #Flyers have placed goaltender Mike McKenna on waivers.

DSP was clutch last year for Washington in the playoffs. Rough go of it this season. Still, think someone claims him.

yeah hard to see how everyone passes on DSP with an expiring contract for $1 mil full season cap hit.

Even a bubble team could probably take a gamble on him for their bottom 6

Probably won't make it to the Flames in waiver priority though.

Interesting to see DSP getting waived. Doubt he clears.

DSP is a buddy of Monahan’s too. Not that it is a reason to claim him. But he has size and can forecheck, brings something the Flames don’t have much of. Could see the Flames claiming him.

Nice troll job the Flyers to waive Mckenna after the Canucks sign and acquire two goalies.

do they have the cap space? He'd probably be their 5-6th best forward.

Probably won't fall far enough, but this would be a cheap/easy way to shore up some depth at forward for the stretch run.

Hey former Flame PTO got an NHL deal

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Cramarossa (Pittsburgh) also on waivers today. Just signed to an NHL contract so needs waivers before being sent down

DSP is still a solid bottom six player on a cheap expiring. No way he makes it through waivers.

I could see the Flames putting in a claim. Probably makes more sense for him to play on the 4th line than Mangiapane when the playoffs come.

Yup.

How many teams want to add proven playoff depth at virtually no cost?

All of them.

DSP Makes 1M?

The difference between Frolik and Burakovsky is 1.3M.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe....

Mangianpane and the 4th line have been great lately. DSP had a good couple of weeks in the playoffs but has been a plug this year and basically his entire career (especially after leaving Montreal)

I was thinking that too, but then, why not just trade DSP and Burakovsky for Frolik?

Flames could use both players.

Does sound like this was a last second thing by the Capitals (were going to wave Jaskin instead) - so suspect they do have something going on.

Jaskin has a lot of skill. Late bloomer or something else going on there?

Even DSP as a popcorn eater would be good for the Flames. If he had to come in as a size option, he wouldnt be a liability. I, too, think he's claimed by another team before he gets to the Flames.

I'd think DSP would have some value, so maybe the Caps needed him gone ASAP for imminent cap/contract reasons. Pretty exciting

I assume a team can put in claims for more than one player at a time?

Like say, the Flames wanted both Joseph Cramarossa and Devante Smith-Pelly.
