Default WJC Day 6: DEN vs CZE. SWE vs KAZ. RUS vs CAN. USA vs FIN.

Last day of the round robin. Some classic match ups on New Year's eve.

Group A. Denmark vs Czech Republic. 2pm MT. TSN 1, 3, 4, 5
If Denmark can pull an upset and win regulation time, they will advance to the QFs and send the Czech Republic to the relegation round. Big IF.

Group B. Sweden vs Kazakhstan. 4:30pm MT. TSN.ca/TSN App
Should be an easy victory for Sweden and will give Sweden their 48th straight WJC round robin victory.

#17 Filip Sveningsson

Group A. Russia vs Canada. 6pm MT. TSN 1, 4
Always a classic match up in international hockey. Playing for 1st place in Group A. Winner will play Slovakia in the quarterfinals. Loser will face the loser of USA vs Finland.

Group B. USA vs Finland 8:30pm MT. TSN 1, 5
Winner avoids Russia and Canada in the quarterfinals, which is probably worth showing up for.

Being reported Sweden will be without Hugg, Sveningsson, Grinning, and Broberg due to illness.

Sweden through another year without a round robin loss. After today it will be 48 straight wins. Last round robin loss was in 2006, since 2006 though they have only 1 Gold. Can't seem to get up for the big games.

Russia vs Canada will be a great game. Klim Kostin & Vitali Kravtsov are gonna have a big game. Hope to see Vasily Podkolzin get more ice time too.

I really wanted Calgary to draft Klim Kostin in 2017 but Flames don't like Russian players. Don't think Flames have ever had a high profile/Star Russian player other then Makarov in the teams history. Wish we got Makarov 5 years sooner as he was one of the best players in the history of Hockey.

Well they also didn't have a pick in that range to take him.
They took Valiimaki in the first round and then didn't have another pick until the 4th.
I don't think there is ample evidence to say that the Flames "don't like Russians".

Huge game for the Czechs. They could finish as high as 3rd or as low as being in the relegation round.

The coaching staff has resisted putting Necas and Zadina together so far. That's mind-bottling especially after they tore it up together last year.

Or, they consistently play exactly at the level they're capable of playing, while other teams coast or play less than their full capability during the round robin only to put in the full effort during the knockout games.

Also has to do with coaching and getting a team to mesh together more quickly than other squads, who might take a few games to get it together.

Poor Danes. Pulled their goalie on a power play and still can't buy a goal.

Yes Calgary had a pick in that range to take Klim Kostin, they could have taken him at 16. Kostin was ranked as the #1 international skater by NHL central scouting. Many Mocks had Kostin going as high as #5 overall. Kostin was ranked HIGHER then Elias Pettersson in the 2017 final NHL rankings. Kostin was #1, Pettersson was #2

And people in Vancouver still don't know what a dive is.
