his biggest skill was putting his stick on the ice for McDavid to target

Chaisson is soon to be UFA, and his numbers were clearly inflated by both: Playing with McDavid; and having an absurdly high shooting percentage.
Chaisson has 10 assists on the season - and a few of those have come recently - after the stretch where he was playing regularly with McDavid. The point is, he’s not even capable of getting assists when playing with McDavid. You would think that he would have more than a literal handful of times, passed the puck to McDavid in his own zone, and gotten an assist after McDavid rushed up the ice.
At the time Chaisson scored his 17th goal of the season, he had 4 assists on the season - The Oilers could have put ME on that line, and I could have “accidentally” picked up more than 4 assists over that span.
I’ll agree that a 4th rounder for him is about the MAX the Oilers should reasonably expect. Yes, sometimes there’s a team willing to trade a 2nd rounder for Reto Berra, but that’s certainly not to be expected.

Is it odd to be excited for Oilers games almost as much as Flames games, but for the exact opposite reasons? This year has provided much joy in having twice the games to watch, just for the chance to see more jersey tosses.

According to this article by Spector
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...monton-oilers/
If Stolarz plays 10 or more games he becomes a RFA, whereas at less than 10 games he becomes a UFA. If I'm Stolarz I'm calling in sick with McDavid flu as much as humanly possible.

So does Stolarz just play like total garbage in practice so he becomes a UFA? We all know they will try to get him in for at least 10 games to keep him. This is comical.

Stolarz is screwed. If he plays well he is an Oiler and if he plays poorly he is out of the NHL. What did he do to deserve this? Did he run over the owner's dog in Philly?

I have to admit, I'm waiting for this year's annual oiler's late season surge in play, where management makes offseason decisions based on the season garbage time producers. You know, where they go into a season confident that their top line winger position is more then set with a guy like Ty Rattie.

So McDavid goes into the all Star break looking like a hobo. Gets cleaned up for the event and looks human. Just saw an interview with him on SC and he is starting to look like a hobo again already. The Oilers just suck the life and will out of that guy.

Stolarz Agent - "What do you mean when you say 'I want you to hit me with your car?'"
Stolarz - "You heard what I said"

Moments later a befuddled looking agent gets out of his car
Agent - "Wow, I went right between your legs and didn't touch you"
