Didn't see the game, so can't comment on the particular play with Backlund, but I don't agree with the idea that you can't have both a legitimate penalty and an embellishment called on the same play.

Most of the time it should be one or the other, but if a legitimate penalty happens and the victim goes full soccer-mode in selling it to make sure it gets called or try to get the punishment upped, I think that's still a good unsportsmanlike call. The original penalty stands and the guy acting like a baby (again, not a comment on the Backlund play specifically - I didn't see it) can have a couple minutes also to think about how he presents himself to the world.

Loved the write up as always Bingo, but can you please add the oilers point differential to your game takes, it's just too good to pass the moment by.

I agree with this, it just sucks when the refs get it wrong!

I'd even be ok if they called only one of them most of the time ... but it's pretty much always two guys going off. Where is the incentive to stop diving if the risk of not taking someone with you is minimal?

I'm surprised nobody is talking about Brodie being benched for most of the 3rd period. One has to wonder if he's long for this team as if you can't play well with Gio it's probably not a good sign.

Coach takes some ice time away from a guy who is +30 as a near term corrective action, maybe to get his attention. Isn’t that just coaching?

Not sure it's all that indicative coming off an injury.

Brodie will have his brainfarts, but for the most part this year he's been solid and trusted.

Generally speaking backup goalies don’t start four games in a row. And counting...

How many periods of hockey has Rittich played in the last month? Not very many.

Maybe there should be more of a deterrent to diving, like making it a double minor.

I really wonder what was said to get an additional 2 +10?

That's not something you see every day.

He recently didn't play because of injury. Came back for a big game and made a couple of mistakes. Personally I commend him for playing hurt when the team needed him.
