Agreed, a show casing happens for a guy returning from injury for example. Everyone has a scouting report on him already, it's just a matter of seeing whether the scouting information still applies post injury.
Looking at selling glrncross at the deadline after he is coming off a high ankle sprain? Give him some minutes to see what he can do. Let everyone see there are no lingering issues.

There are multiple likely reasons Lazar is still in Stockton:
Flames feel other players will have bigger impact at NHL level
Flames feel it’s better for his development/confidence in Stockton
Flames feel it’s better for other players development to see some NHL time
Flames want a closer look at other prospects at NHL level
Waiver considerations (although irrelevant for a shorter look)
The $40k in cap considerations doesn’t even register next to these IMO.

It wouldn’t shock me if Lazar is brought up for a fourth line role for the playoffs. No one else has shown anything, really.

From a personal standpoint I really like Lazar, I cheer for him and would love to see him given another chance that to me he has no doubt earned.

What they gave up for him is a sunk cost and shouldn't be a factor.
In fact they organization has already proven they were prepared to lose him for nothing.
All things being equal the guy I think has been most effective has been Quine and come playoff time - that will be the guy in the line-up

Huge props to Mangiapane for his play the past dozen games. The points have come recently but Andrew's looked like an NHL'er for roughly the past month. The lost and behind the play player is gone now that he's adjusted and risen to the NHL speed.
Being a top team and graduating three rookies this season gives us so much flexibility with the roster down the line. Continuing to hit on 2nd and late rounders like Mangiapane is so important for long term success. Valimaki and Dude are killing it as 20 year olds in the AHL too, important for next season.
Just a little positive post in the sea of toxicity.

Isn't Mangiapane a 6th rounder?

I thought he had his best game as a Flame last night. That line dominated the cycle.

He, along with Matthew Phillips and Theoren Fleury, is one of three sub-5'10" players drafted by Calgary at 166th overall

Perhaps poor structure by me. Second rounders like Andersson/Kylington and late rounder (6th) like Mangiapane.

People say Bennett could have used a year in the A for his development. It looks like that is what they are doing for Lazar. It´s not like he´s really needed on the big club.

Mangiapane. is playing his best NHL level of hockey since he joined the organization. Looking really decent on that line and playing bigger than his size.
