Prout will be exposed to the Nucks speed if he's in the lineup. Hopefully Hammer is back by then but I agree get Valiev in if Hammer is out.

Valimaki has been better than Kylington, IMO.

I think the difference between the two are negligible at best right now. Valimaki has a higher upside, but I really don't think it makes much of a difference which one is in the line-up at the moment.

I rather see Kylington stay in the line-up to give the team more information on how good they think Kylington can be. The Flames need to decide if they can move Hanifin, Kylington or Valimaki to the right side. If the answer is no, then they should be trading Kylington.

If I was Brad, I would trade Brodie in the off-season for some good assets. Move Hamonic to the first pairing with Gio. Have Hanifin & Andersson on the 2nd pairing. Then move Kylington or Valimaki to the right side so they can both be on the bottom pairing. Keep Stone as the #7 guy or trade him if possible and acquire a cheaper #7. Prout is fine for a #8.

I've been very impressed with how Valimaki was playing.
He makes very smart plays for his age and doesn't seem to panic at all. I thought he also had a very heavy shot from the point.

Valimaki is the superior defender and has a much easier time managing the physical game compared to Kylington.

I'd also give him an edge on his vision and possibly passing skills as well. Always makes excellent exits from his own zone.

Kylington is by far the superior skater and has a pretty good shot, but that's about it.

AND, I'm saying all this being completely thrilled with Kylington's game at the NHL level. That's how good I think Valimaki is and will be going forward. Future top pairing d-man in the making.

I think Valimaki's skating is almost as good. I can't recall his shot.

Calgary has assigned d-man Rinat Valiev back to AHL Stockton. #Flames

Great little financial reward for Valiev. I think the call should have been for Healey and rewarded a guy like him for his off ice dedication.

Healey still gets regularly rotated out of the Heat line up. It isn't as bad as last year but it still happens.

Right now the Flames have more faith in Valiev than Healey if one of them needs to play.
