Flames Hanifin injury

Hanifin might be out a while, according to the postgame show on Fan960. (Ryan Leslie).

Didn't see the play. What happened?

Fortunate to have just 6 games in the next 20 days. Time for Hanifin to heal, and/or rest Gio and Tanev who will play 25-28 minutes per game

That’s going to be a big blow to the flames trying to get last playoff spot if true.

Would be really nice to be able to at least slot him back in during that final Canucks set.

Hope it's a 2-4 week ailment.

We might be able to keep the hopes alive till then.

Weird. It looked like he hit his head hard and was wobbly when he got up. LBI seems odd, although he did fall unexpectedly on a routine hit, so could be a leg injury.

Ahhh dang it. Overall team D seems better now so hopefully it's easier to absorb.

Nobody seemed to answer you, and you might have seen the play by now but he hit Perry along the boards, they kind of got tied up and Hanifin fell down and bonked his helmeted head on the ice. They replayed it after intermission and his left leg may have bent funny.

He looked kind of woozy after the hit and seemed to skate off/put weight on both legs and seemed to walk down the tunnel fairly normal. LBI is believable.

His left skate dug in, and his body kept moving. Watching the replay in slow mo, it looks like all his weight and momentum went into the ankle which bent laterally - so pretty much a definite sprain at least. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a bit of a concussion from smacking the back of his head on the ice after too. He didn't fall well.

He was able to lift the right foot off the ice without support though, so hopefully it's not a serious sprain.

Guess this means Kylington or Nesterov in next game. More minutes for Stone next game.

We've been really lucky on the injury front for quite a long time.

Hamonic 13 games in '18-19

Tkachuk 14 games '17-18

Obviously Valimaki's lost season, but that's more of a development pain than 'win-now' issue.

If it was a knee or ankle you'd think he would have been holding it as he was on the ice.

But the way he basically just collapsed -- to the point where he couldn't even support his head from not hitting the ice -- it makes sense that it's a shoulder or perhaps collarbone injury (and probably related to the hit he took back in Montreal, as noted on the broadcast).

Don't forget the game before he was hit awkwardly into the boards went straight to the room but returned later that period.

Hanifin is a tough customer and I'm willing to bet he was toughing it out for as long as he could before this happened.

He's a gamer and I'm hoping a quick healer. If possible I'd like to see Mackey in his.spot .....that kid is impressive and Cale McLean was using him in every situation for the heat.
