Default Does Fox win the Norris in only his second NHL season?

Hamilton only 5pts back as well.

Spoiler!

Fox gets my vote. I think he’s the clear cut winner. All around stud. plays all scenarios.

Fox plays 24 mins a night, leads all D in points, is +18 on a non-playoff team, and even has a shorthanded goal. How many friggin defencemen get short handed goals?

Kills penalties, QBs the powerplay, plays in OT and down the strech. Not sure how he doesn't win it.

Disappointed that he doesn't/didn't want to play for the Flames, but at least it shows that our amateur scouting department made the right choice in identifying talent.

I haven't actually watched Fox play; how is his defense?
+18 is pretty good, considering the Rangers weren't one of the better teams, so was that earned purely from putting up .87ppg, or is he decent in his own end.

Very good in his own end. That’s why he PKs and is on the ice at the end of the game. Absolute puck hound.

Yeah, he probably should, although Chychrun also deserves some very real consideration. He's fantastic.

Let's not do this to ourselves.

Just for my own sanity, anyone but Fox or Hamilton. What a nightmare this season is.

While at Harvard many would compare him to Brian Leetch. Amazing how much this kid has met those expectations. I would not be shocked if he did win it. Hamilton will get top three votes too. What a year I tell ya!

Looks like from Fox's and his agent's perspective it was the right choice since he's obviously going to get at least a Norris nomination and a massive payday shortly. Can't really fault him for the career path he's carved out for himself as it's going to pay off.

However nobody should ever think the Flames are losers in this or are to blame. He was never going to sign here and the fact that Carolina got hosed too just goes to show him and his agent had their eyes set on NY and NY only.

But as you said, it's a great endorsement of the Flames' scouting staff. A legit Norris contender selected in the 3rd round is pretty miraculous. It gives me hope that one day scouting can select someone similar and this time that player stays in Calgary.

Still sucks though. Fox could would have been the heir to Gio and would have solidified the backend for years to come

I don't think there's much to say other than the points you made.

Something I will add is that at least Fox told the Flames ahead of time.
He didn't pull a Schultz/Vesey on the Flames.

Nope, it will be Hedman.

I would guess the vote won't be close

I would be more disappointed if I was a Ducks fan as they had Theodore and traded him away to the Knights to protect Manson.

Could be Hamilton too, although I think it will be Hedman. He is the best all-around dman in the league.

It’s a lifetime achievement award. Hedman has the bigger name, so he’ll probably win it based on his reputation. But Fox deserves it. I agree that Chychrun and Hamilton also deserve consideration.

Rangers are blackballed now, no way they win anything.

Fox should win though, he's having an exceptional season.

Theodore would have to be in the conversation too.

Fox and Makar are a couple of studs. Looking at two future Norris winners that went the college route.
