Fluke. The 8th inning blunder won the game. If they caught that ball the game is over. It happens. Bad luck.

What's the slogan for next year if that was "Next Level"?

I don't see that as a choke at all, that flukey/awful collision was 3 runs and the game. And let's be real, that was an awful swing and terrible contact, pure luck that it did any damage.
Other than that, two teams just hit well and went toe to toe. Jays maybe should have pulled Bass earlier and stuck with their starter a bit longer as I thought Bass just looked first outing in spring training level bad

Incredibly disappointing season. Couldn’t live up to the contender hype, couldn’t keep momentum going from September into October, and get swept with home field advantage. This is nothing but a wasted season for the Blue Jays and their core.
Hopefully can make a splash in free agency and get a tenured manager.

Uh 8-1 Choke is the only way to describe it…unless you call it epic choke

Yep. It did though. Everyone knows it. Listen to the pundits on TV. Even they agree. And they usually spew nonsense. It was a horrible call and set the tone for the rest of the game. And now we're sitting here arguing a bad loss.
Schneider ####ed it.

For me a choke is when a team gets tight and makes easy execution erros to cough up a big lead. That didn't happen here from my perspective. Romero mows through two guys with the bases loaded and is cruising all of a sudden, induces weak contact off a tough pitch, 95/100 times a swing and contact like that are an easy out. Just bad luck imo, coupled with a good team on the other side.
I think when a team truly chokes you worry about their mentality not being tough enough and personally, I didn't see that out there tonight as much as I am disappointed.

This is the game where the lack of solid 6th and 7th inning bullpen arms (particularly left handed arms) really ####ed the team. As much as we’d like to blame Schneider for taking Gausman out, the issue is that we didn’t have a guy to come in that was anywhere near elite. Bass and Garcia are 8th inning guys but we just don’t have anyone to bridge that gap.
We knew this. Management didn’t address it effectively.

Have always thought this Jays team was a playoff team but not quite a World Series team.
Not sure it would sting more losing the way they did today or losing eventually to the Astros

Not really a Jays fan so don’t know the lineup. Do they not have a 4th starter they could have used?

Can't wait until something is done in MLB regarding balls/strikes. I know it's happened 500 times this year, but that called strike on Jansen in 9th was further outside that at least 6 pitches that he had just called balls in exactly the same spot, outside the zone. 1000 cuts

Giving up an 8-1 lead at home and not winning a single postseason game is infinitely more painful than winning a series and losing to a World Series contender.

Losing to the Astros would have been easier to take. They're the best in the AL. They should have been able to get out of this series but they blew it.

I think he was actually called out swinging…even though it looked like he was punched out. It’s the only explanation I have. I do think his bat crossed the plane.

If Berrios wouldn't have been so inconsistent this season they could have. You don't know what you're going to get with him.
