If you break it down he's had two miserable games and two decent games by the metrics. The interesting point, as many have mentioned is the two horrible games came with Nordstrom on the other side.

Nordstrom doesn't have the two good games ... just the two bad, so the inkling would be he's the heaviest anchor, but yeah they should split them up and see.

If Lucic starts going in and out of the lineup you have to wonder what he does. My thought is always why would a guy retire when he has money coming, but he hinted he was thinking of just that under Peters.

His xgf% game log ...
at Wpg 6%
vs Vcr 53%
vs Vcr 77%
vs Tor 10%
Is that a typo? Because 6% would imply 1-16 and I can't imagine that WPG had an expected goals for of 16

Flames 'bounce back' and dominate the Leafs today. I thought that the Flames didn't have their legs under them.

Flames allow zero own goals on themselves tonight, which translates to absolutely no goals against tonight.

Toronto Media writes up about some inadvertent hit, or that a Flames player breathed too heavily on one of their beloved players, and we will hear about it for a week.

Time for our depth scorers to breakout today.
I will donate $20 to CP if we score 6 or more goals today.

Nope ... it's extreme but correct.

xGF is a build of different types of shot attempts analyzed against success rates to build a total goals for.

Lucic in that game had a scant .03 ... which is just a whisker over nothing. They generated zilch when he was on the ice.

His xGA in that game though was 0.54, which was in the middle of the team ... not terrible, not great.

.03/.57 = 6%

When a guy generates nothing, and manages to give up an expected half goal with only 8 minutes of five on five ice time it stands out.

Its early but there have been a lot of positives, of course that Markstrom guy tends to make things look positive all the time.

The own goals thing has to stop happening at some time right? Right? It happens but all strung together like this? Pretty crazy stretch. When is the last time we saw Markstrom get beat by a puck off the oppositions stick blade?

I kind of hate to say it but I think the Flames should play Brodie tough. Not cheap, but finish every check, he really doesn't like it. He has some silent rage in him and can be goaded into a penalty. So strange seeing "our" Brodie with his head sticking out of that jersey. Wish him nothing but the best. Except when he's playing the Flames of course.

Go Flames Go!

I get it. We've seen this show many times so I don't blame you for taking this approach.

The Winnipeg game was ugly because they failed to show up for periods 2 and 3, but in the other 3 games the team has played good enough to win. Leafs game was bound to be ugly, 5 days off, afternoon, all the bounces going Toronto's way.

Sample size is small but Markstrom gives me a lot of confidence plus we have Rittich who has proven to be able to play at a high level in limited stretches.

Go Flames Go!

I think the Flames should target Reilly on that pair. Brodie is really evasive and one of the NHL's best at moving the puck out of the zone, even under pressure. Reilly is not as strong defensively as Brodie, and is prone to making more mistakes. I would make sure the pucks go in on Reilly's side all night with a lot of forechecking pressure.

And I didn't think the Maple Leafs game was that ugly. There was a stretch of bad hockey for about ten minutes in the first period, but otherwise I thought the Flames looked pretty good. Had the puck not been bouncing all over the ice, I think they could have looked great, but there was a lot of missed passes and blocked shots which made for a frustrating night.

Hey sorry everyone ...

My poking fun at a bad situation wasn't meant as a pity party donation rally! Should have thought that through.

Likely getting laid off today, but happy the Flames are on TV tonight!
