Just wondering what everyone thinks about the new guys we brought in upfront?
We all are happy with Markstrom, Tanev and Nesterov so just wondering what everyone thinks of Leivo, Simon, and Nordstrom?
Personally I haven’t been overly impressed with any of them, Simon probably the most out of any of them.
Defiantly happy with our additions on the blue line and in net but I still think we have issues upfront.
I wouldn’t hate it if our 4th line was Simon-Ryan-Leivo but would still need another forward in the mix in the top 9 as Lucic and Nordstrom should be in the press box.
We have depth sure but still think we could use another forward..
I was into the idea of trying these new forwards.
And as expected they are pretty meh considering they are being elevated to ride shotgun to the monny line.
It’s good to have 4 dependable lines but I think they should all just be rotated in and out of the 4th line.

Bottom 6ers that are bottom 6ers. Wasn’t expecting the world from them and they’ve come as advertised. Someone can correct if wrong, but I believe Leivo is a streaky player so he can get points in bunched when he’s on.
I still think we need to pursue a top 6 RW to stack up the lines a little better, whether it be a rental or not.

If one of them scores a goal, this game ends differently. By and large, the non stars other than Lucic have been OK. Just need some occasional production.
Simon looks like a puckhound. Not able to do much with the puck once he gets it, but he's good at retrieval and is often in a good spot defensively.
Leivo has some smarts for the game, but lacks the elite skill to execute the play he imagines. He is probably going to be one of those guys that makes you think he has another level, but never quite gets there. Solid 3rd line plug who can pot a few goals when given the chance.
Nordstrom is pretty strong on the forecheck, and on the PK, but that's about all. Next to zero offensive ability. I wouldn't be shocked to see one of our prospects render him obsolete over the course of the season.

This conversation reminds me of the constant negative comments towards reider last year. I never got it and he eventually played well in playoffs
Let's focus on guys who get paid. Lucic and Bennett have been useless so far.
Or maybe we keep this thread on the specific topic for which it was introduced and bitch about 17 and 93 in several other threads
Leivo has never played a full NHL season, so I wasn’t expecting much. Hope he settles in and finds a role.
I have liked Simon’s energy and some smart net front play that has created a bit of space for Johnny and Monny. Hasn’t seen him show up significantly on the scoresheet but has looked decent
Nordstrom was expected to be a bottom liner and PK specialist I believe.
On the whole they have been okay, but part of me would like to just see Pelletier or even Zary here instead. Shelter them but start them developing.
