Default Favourite French Canadian Flame of all time

With all the Dubois talk, got me to thinking what French Canadian players have played for the flames. Don’t recall a lot, but going back, we had rejean lemelin and Charlie Bourgeois in the 80s. 90s saw Michel “all the tools but no toolbox” petit. And the 2000s saw Gelinas, the eliminator.

As we are a few days in between and as Dubois won’t be coming here, who is your favourite French Canadian flame of all time?

For me, has to be Gelinas. Played the game the right way and showed up in the playoffs.

Gelinas is a great one for sure. But maybe the old fogeys on this board can come up with a list because it's difficult to recall other La Belle province Flame greats.

Stephane Yelle and Marty Saint Louis were pretty cool. But yeah, it's Gelinas for me too.

Guy Chouinard.

He was the centerman for Lanny McDonald during the 82-83 season, where Lanny scored his 66 goals.

I went to school with his kid! It was years before I found out his dad was an NHL player and coach, a very humble guy.

I always liked Mike Small back in the day but he wasnt a great player though he could be a real pain in the ass to play against.

Gelinas was imo the best but others were really good too.

Pelletier is going to make a case for it way down the road one day though....book it!

Gelinas, Lemelin, Chouinard are the ones that come to mind.

I recall Fletcher talking up the Denis Cyr draft pick when I was a kid. That was a dud.

I always liked Gauthier, and also Joel Bouchard, who was around for a couple of the dark ‘90s seasons...

Would you count Fleury or Phaneuf then?

I'm going with Gelinas and Yelle.

Could have been Giguere if we didn't trade him too soon.
