Additionally, Ilya Solovyov has been waived (a bit surprising, I thought he looked good last night) for the purpose of assignment to the Wranglers

Jonathan Aspirot, Clark Bishop, Hunter Brzustewicz, Martin Frk, Justin Kirkland and Sam Morton all assigned to the Wranglers today.
Dryden Hunt, Walker Duehr, Jarred Tinordi all waived today, can't imagine any of those three getting claimed

From the news release...
Quote:
Center Jaden Lipinski was added to the roster on a Professional Try-Out (PTO). Lipinski, a fourth-round pick for the Calgary Flames in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, had 66 points in 67 games last season for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League.

Sort of odd... Why not give him an ELC?

You can't go a whole season on a PTO.

Maybe they want to see him against AHL talent prior to making a decision. Give him a few games in the A, if it doesn't work send him back to junior.

Lipinski was drafted as an 18-yr-old out of the WHL. He'll be 20 in December.
Pretty sure he'd go back to Junior as an over-ager if he isn't offered a contract.

He'd be signed already if his skating was better. Maybe withholding a contract is some tough love from the Flames that he needs to improve his skating in a major way before he can be considered a pro at any level?
