I love Suzuka but wet Suzuka sucks. Way too many high speed sweepers lose their panache when it's wet.

So much this! I can't agree more. F1 cars are 1755kg and 5.6m long and 2m wide. You know what else is that big...a chevy yukon at 5.7m and 2.1m wide. A freaking Silverado 1500 is between 5.3-6.1m and 2.1m wide and an X3 weighs the same. These cars are gigantic and driving on numerous circuits not built for such behemoths.

I'm getting more into NASCAR ()...but that COTA race was fun...except for track limits...lol.

Check your units.
The minimum weight for an F1 car is 798 kg, which is ~1755 lbs.
So while you're right about them being as wide, you're way off on the weight. Both the Yukon and Silverado are gonna vary based on the trim, bed size etc, but neither is anywhere near 800 kg, more like 2000+.

So yeah, as wide and long? Yes
Same weight, no. More like 30-40%

Some of the weight is due to the safety rules. Like the halo and beefed up side impact structure after the Anthoine Hubert fatal crash.

But the cars needed to smaller and lighter. Hopefully they find a way to do so.

Yeah the volume taken up by these cars now is substantial. Makes it tough to fit on these circuits regardless of what they weigh. Watch the Villenueve-Peroni documentary and those look like go carts. Has to be a way to keep high levels of safety in a smaller physical car
