That PlayStation showcase sure got me excited about the future. Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, and God of War Ragnorak will be all day 1 purchases for me

Those 3 games also overshadowed Forspoken which looks great. Kind of reminded of the UE5 demo they had about a year ago.

Now I feel dumb. I’ve been waiting for this PS5 update to add a new SSD, I knew the PS5 also supported external USB storage but heard it was only for storage but just now realized you can use it to play PS4 games just not PS5. Now I have an extra 1Tb since most of the games I have are PS4 and then the new internal drive today. No more storage issues.
Edit: Also bought a 500gb M.2 Gen 4 drive last week that came with a free code for Battlefield 2042 for PC $142 tested in PS5 and works great.

You can also store PS5 games on the external and move them over faster than re-downloading

Just curious what heatsink did you use with that one.

I just put in a Samsung 1TB 980 Pro with a low profile Micro Connectors heat sink (NGFFM2-HS-KIT). Seems to be working well!

I didn't even think about a heat sink, just a thermal pad. Was there reports of heat issues?
Edit: Running my thermal camera on it to test.
Edit Edit: Was running at 63 degrees during download then used a couple small heatsinks I had for a raspberry pi and it runs at 48 now.

There was a large PS5 drop at Walmart online around 9:30pm last night. I got lucky enough to snag one primarily because I was beside my phone.

I think all the official playstation guides have recommended using a heat sink

Yeah makes sense, it got pretty hot without any heatsink.

Retail price for the PS5 is $629 CAD, correct? Why is WalMart listing $1,329? 3rd party reselling nonsense?
What is the best way to get a console right now?

I followed Lbabinz on twitter and turned on notifications. When he announced a drop, I acted as quickly as I could and ordered. Ended up getting an order confirmed and delivered from Walmart. Took me about 6 weeks of active trying but I think I only saw a few drops announced (one airmiles, one costco which I don't have, one Walmart, and one in store Gamestop).
Seems like you need to have your order submitted within about 2-5 minutes of the drop announcement typically. I've heard lots of stories of people just walking into stores but I don't have time to do that.

Got mine off Kijiji for cost with receipt. Keep an eye out there, not everyone is trying to scalp, but you need to be on the ball since they go quick.

Just searched Lbabinz and followed, thanks.
How much did you pay?
I have been checking Kijiji, will continue to do so.

Bought a PS5 last night off a weasel scalper, $825. GameStop refurb with a September receipt, perfect condition and works as expected.
Sucks to pay extra but snow will be falling soon and I'll only get frustrated searching for one online.

Exactly what I was thinking, I've already waited a year thinking stores would be stocked up. I really did not want to pay a reseller/scalper, scoop them up and hold them for ransom, nice.
This makes 24 gaming systems in my collection including the handhelds.

I'm on the hunt now for a Series X. I refuse to go the scalper route, so what's the best way to get in on restocks? I've subscribed to nowinstock.net for email alerts, anything else I should look at?
