This past 2 years has been more variable as COVID really screwed things up and the ratings package we use - which typically has been primarily based on the most recent year - chose to use the past 2 seasons to set ratings.

Typically though there can be pretty big swings as it is largely based on the most recent season. Keep in mind though that OVR is just a calculation of the individual player attributes - which are what REALLY matter and what defines the effectiveness of a player. So sometimes a veteran player will retain a solid OVR but when you look deeply you'll see it's b/c of high LD and EX ratings.

Not to beat a dead horse, but going into this season, I am expecting to make moves based on a 2 year average of a player and not a 1 year average.

I understand Commissioners don't have control over the packages that come out, but I am assuming that's the type of package chosen if given the option.

I would not make that assumption
If it’s proper and full season I would expect our ratings provider will return to their historic approach of focusing on one year performance

Just talking overall though, what would be considered a big jump? 5 points?

Do goalies usually have bigger jumps than skaters since their numbers are generally higher than skaters?

I'd say anything 5 or more would be a big jump.
I've not looked to see if goalies jump more or less.

When both re-rate packages were submitted for approval, Holtby stayed at 83 in one, and dropped to 53 in the other...

Where do we find how long an injured player is supposed to be out for? Or is it just when he is no longer on the scratched roster we know he is no longer hurt?

When the site is updated there will be a link to the injuries, unfortunately not done yet.
Best way to look at it now is to open the sim file and check the rating in the player there. Usually the player needs to be at least 95 before playable.. And i would recommend waiting until they are at 100. Every point below 100 is a day.

So does that mean I keep the guy on IR until he's back to 100 then I should take him off?

I generally play guys when they are 98/99 just with reduced minutes.
Though if my goalie dips below 100 I give him the night off.
But I'd rather have Eichel in the lineup on the third line than not have him at all.

And Dave is right, if they are below 95 they should go on IR.

I can't seem to get the player search function under the 'rosters' page, to work. Is there a trick that I am missing?

It’s been down for awhile now. Also noticed this.

Has it been down since the site outage or was it broken before that?

I think that it was working before the outage. If it stopped a day or two before, I couldn't say, but I think that it was fine then.

I don't think it's a Cam issue and instead started once I switched hosting.

There's some sort of conflict there and I've been out of town with work and unable to troubleshoot it just yet.
Use this link for now please. It should work for now:
