You don't think you'll split the conservative vote with Sean Chu?

When did giving money to (aspiring) politicians become a good cause?

Hey, I have no problem with the shameless plug, she's a politician. That's what they do.
It would be kinda cool to have an alderman as an active poster on here too. There's some pretty bright individuals on this board, and a lot of great ideas. I don't think we have that kind of voter sway to get anyone in or out of office, but as far as inflated net egos go, it would be pretty funny to think of us as the "Howard Stern" of internet media (at least municipally).
At the very least we can make life miserable for someone trying to win an internet baking competition.

I'm sure we will each get our share. Sean will lose some since he has not lived in the ward for over 10 years and doesn't plan on returning here. Opening his campaign office outside the ward likely won't help either. Plus we are two distinct conservatives; he's a PC'er, I'm a Wildroser.
The other 9 candidates can fight over the scraps.

All candidates need money to get their name out and share their views with voters.
Regardless of which candidate you support, giving that support goes towards creating a healthy democracy.

LOL, That's the great thing, even if we were in the same ward you could vote for both of us.

Oh, I thought that you either had to donate back to CP or give members a discount to be able to advertise on the site.

Good luck, it would be pretty cool to have an Alderman on CP. If you were in my ward I'd vote for you.

The mods think it's ok, personally I think it's close to some kind of line because it's using a community that one didn't build and a site one doesn't own for one's own benefit. So in that respect I find it a bit distasteful without first asking the site's owner, or paying for advertising, or something like that.
On the other hand any other candidates would be free to come and do the same thing, and having access to someone in the process is some kind of benefit to the community here.
On the gripping hand if they all came here to advertise it that would overrun the forum.
So anyway carry on

Paying for advertising isn't really a bribe, it's a fair exchange of value for value.
