long term deal for Nurse coming up?

I still like the bridge. I don't think Nurse proves himself to be a 6+mil defender which would be the only risk of a bridge. Flexibility to bring in a better forward maybe and a stop-gap D this year.

Ryan Ellis’ deal could be a comparable. 5.5m x 8yr could be fair

Could be, with the limited offense though I still think he could be had for 5 mil or under on a long term deal.

Nurse locked up long term for anywhere in the 5m range would have huge potenial to be a bargain in 3-5 yrs
If Darnell Nurse get's 5+ Million per on a long term deal I will laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and...

Well, I guess we'll see Brandon Davidson Part 3 in Edmonton this fall. Who else can they bring in to replace Sekera?

Jason Scheff - Oh sorry, he was brought in to replace Peter Cetera, I always get those two mixed up.

I honestly thought this was a bump from last summer when he injured himself.

Bouchard just got himself a nice payday.

Based on their cap issues, and Nurse there with his hand out.... aren't they "all in" already? Like..... their window was last year, before McDavids ELC ran out. They are actually not in a rebuilding phase at the moment, for the first time in over a decade. They are kinda in the same spot as Chicago; retooling an aging, salary bloated roster, except they aren't an aging roster, they are just a terrible roster. If you blinked, you like totally missed the Oilers window.... and the window was actually a sneeze guard on a salad bar at a truck stop diner.

Sekera could easily be back by Oct-Nov.
It mostly depends on severity of tear and chronicity of injury

Maybe Paul Coffey can suit up for the Oilers this season?

Just like that the Oilers season is over before it begins. It also appears they lost a defensemen to injury.

I hope Bouchard makes that team with or without Sekera. Who wouldn’t love another Oilers bust?

I feel sorry for Sekeras, even though he's a dirty filthy Oiler, that's too major injuries in a row, at 32 years in a row and two major surgeries, coming back is going to be tough, I wish him luck.

This puts the Oilers in a bind, I've said that organizational depth the Oilers are on the arse end of empty, now they're going to either have to force Bouchard into the lineup, or put a not very good Bear or Jones into the lineup.

I hope the Oilers management believe he's a bust and then give him away to another team where he becomes an all-star.

Give it a few years, he’ll be the next Justin Schultz

I hear that Kevin Lowe guy knows a thing or two about winning, maybe he straps the skates back on and shows this team how it's done? He might even be able to give Captain "let's go" a few pointers on leadership.

Two brutal injuries back to back, that takes a toll on a player. Also, playing for the Oilers does as well
